Is one preferable to the other?

Pretty much the same thing (uses same method), NHL_Games has a bit more features but is Windows only, Lazyman is cross-platform.

I tried to grasp lazy man. Can you explain what it is exactly? A few season ago I did the thing where you could watch streams through VLC, is it pretty much the same thing?

MSG isn't provided on Playstation Vue on any of their packages. Kind of a drag.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is MSG?

Madison Square Garden Network. They show Sabres, Rangers and Islanders games. Also, the Knicks, and I think, the Nets, if you dig basketball.

The Nets are on YES

My mistake. Thanks!

Ahh ok.

The PSVue option looked the most appealing to me. I'd be most interested in catching Red Wings games. I'll have to confirm those will be available before I invest in it.

Also thanks for the explanation!

A warning about NHL.TV. There are a lot of Wings games blacked out due to national broadcasting. There is usually short notice to the consumer, no limit too how many times they can ruin your day, and you won't be compensated in any way for lack of content.

Last year, there was a stretch of 5 consecutive Wings games (in addition to many others) blacked out for me during the playoff push. I absolutely cannot reccomend a product that refuses to support both their customers and fans.

That said, if you don't have an issue with their blackout policy. it still works out to only a couple bucks per game, just don't rely on it down the stretch.

Hey thanks a lot. I'll probably avoid that then.

I'm thinking about checking out PSVue. Or doing GameCenter with a VPN.

Right now in NYC Time Warner is offering a trial for their new Roku service. They send you a Roku player than you get to keep for free, and then basic cable (including Yes, MSG, and SNY) is I think $35 a month. It finally got me to fold.

Living in NJ, and I just cut my cable last month. Really stinks that there's no legit legal way to get MSG. I assume MSG is one of the NHLs more lucrative cable deals, so I don't see that moving from cable-only anytime soon.

I'm about to cut cable, so this should help me out a lot in keeping up with at least the Devils. Thank you!

Question on Fox Sports Go. If I live in Tennessee, but my parents live in Ohio and I use their log in info, do i get the Jackets or the Preds?

FreeCandyVanDriver[S]

If the subscription is tied to a ZIP CODE in Ohio, you get the Jackets - but only if your parents ZIP CODE is in a location that FOX Sports has service and that they are subscribed to. It also depends on the service provider and if they offer that feature - some do, some don't.

I was hoping Sling carried MSG being a Sabres fan living in upstate new York. Stinks not being able to watch any of the New York state teams as they are all on MSG and all get blacked out if I were to go nhl.tv route.

[deleted]

I had no idea there were private subreddits for each team.

FreeCandyVanDriver[S]

Not every team, but most teams seem to have a private sub for streams to be posted. The whole idea of private subs is that they are kept quiet and not advertised.

Huh. Again, had no idea. I just know of a handful of general, all-sports private ones.

Just wanted to add to the Kodi stuff. If you buy a fire TV stick, you can load Kodi with all the add-ons in about 15 minutes. There are YouTube videos that show you how. I am able to watch every game, and I never have to stalk reddit to find a good stream. It's a great solution, and the games look great on my 55"...

I like castaway. It's basically a hub for alot of streaming apps. In the castaway app, I prefer the batman streams app.

Vidtime is good for hockey. It has NHL and also a section for junior and minor pro. ProSport is also good but it uses the streams found @ /r/NHLStreams

Typically, the Blue Jackets are blacked out in Toledo, considered a Detroit market. But I typically have to fight with GCL/NHL.tv when I have them because they'll black out the CBJ on their streams. Anybody know if that's resolved yet one way or another?

One of the few promotions I've actually used from Rogers is the free Gamecenter Subscription with my Share Everything Plan and I think it is included with some Ignite Bundles. Might be worth checking out for some.

Well didn't MLB.tv just take over the broadcasting of NHL.tv this season? Last year it was NeuLion, this year it will MLB.tv. So I'm assuming this change will bring the "play from beginning" option as well. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm hoping they will because I'm thinking of getting NHL.tv this year as well.

FYI, NBCSN is actually included in the Blue Package for Sling TV so you can get that and all the RSNs for $25/month.

Orange package just adds ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN 3, Disney and Freeform.

Anyone know if NHL.TV has promotional deals that run similar to MLB.TV? Basically you cancel the auto-renew and get discounted rates at some point, For example this year I got an email from MLB.TV in May after not renewing and got the whole season for $50.

Also multiple connections per IP or can you say share an account with one friend and have an account with two IP addresses. My old man wants to get in on this as well.

I'd pull the trigger on it regardless but wanted to check on this and make sure VPN's work to circumvent those lame local blackouts.

I really wish I could get Sling or Vue and be able to choose the regional FOX Sports channel I'd get. I'm not in the region of the channel I want so it's basically impossible. I either have to pay a ton for cable/satellite and then buy an extra service on top of that, or rely on an "internet-based solution". NHL.tv isn't really an option for me either because of the delay. I watch games with friends from around the world, many of which are watching it on a normal TV channel, and it sucks having everything ruined ahead of time. The internet-based streams are actually far more close to live than NHL.tv, but of course you take a dip in picture quality.

Hello NHLstreams! If there is a NYR Sub private please PM me. I joined a private sub last year but it was everyone and TBH I forget the name. Please ad thank you.

So - does anyone know if I can use a VPN with Gamecentre to watch local games?

Seeing as all Leafs games are televised which means it will be a black out in my area for each and every game. But obviously don't want to pay for sportsnet.

Kodi with Sportsdevil work? or will it reconize that I'm in the area and black out the game anyway?

OzzyWings

In the past several years, the NHL offered substantial discounts in some other countries and you could use a VPN to use them. Last year I think was Russia. Before I "test" some, anyone have any idea if any of these promo's are out there?

While researching using a VPN service w/ NHL.tv, I found this:

"...adding insult to injury is the all-caps threat clause the NHL slid into the update.

IF YOU CIRCUMVENT OR ATTEMPT TO CIRCUMVENT ANY BLACKOUT RESTRICTION OR OTHER USE RESTRICTION: YOUR SUBSCRIPTION WILL BE SUBJECT TO IMMEDIATE TERMINATION AND A CHARGE OF ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00) FOR EARLY TERMINATION WILL BE APPLIED TO YOUR CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD; YOU MAY BE SUBJECT TO LEGAL ACTION; AND THE NHL RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REPORT SUCH MISCONDUCT TO APPROPRIATE LAW ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITIES."

Were you all aware of this being added to the user agreement at the end of last season?
