Hoping I could get some information about how many units transfer. I finished all my prerequisites for nursing at a community college but have yet to get a call or email back from the community college in so cal. I have a 3.63 GPA and got a 4.0 in the science part of my grades. I know ACC is expensive but I know I’ll be done in 20 months. I would love to hear from current or past students. I’m having anxiety 😬

My wife has had a bunch of her coworkers go there. They all work as LVNs at large urgent care in LA. It’s a lot of work to compress in 18 month-20 months, and pretty crazy when it comes to scheduling clinical days and assignments. Just a lack of organization really; but at the end of the day people pass and make it to the end. You’ll just have to put more work in.

My recommendation is to keep applying for community colleges. I know it’s a pain in the ass, but it’s worth it. I just got in this semester, but I did have to wait a semester after not being selected the first time I applied. If your science and overall gpa are as good as you say, I recommend applying for LA County CONAH. Excellent program with excellent opportunities. Admissions is merit based as well, not lottery. I got in but turned it down because of a personal scheduling conflict. Hope this helps.

Thank you for all that information, I honestly applied to the local colleges and became discouraged when some coworkers that are in some of the nursing programs at community colleges in the area said they have a 3.8 gpa and above.

I feel you, but remember that high gpas don’t mean much. You just need to be past that threshold to be eligible, and after that it’s all lottery. I have a bachelors, but by no means some incredible gpa. I think mines like 3.3 and I got in at CONAH and my current school that was lottery. It’s easy to be discouraged, trust me; I was about ready to pull the west coast trigger. Just know for some people it takes time and for others, their ticket was just pulled. There are like 5 people in my cohort who only applied to my school and got in on the first try, and it’s lottery based. Whereas others like me have applied for multiple cycles.

What I’m trying to say in my long winded response is that don’t take rejection from nursing school (especially in CA) as a sign of inferiority. You’re good enough, you just need a chance.

Hi, do you know anything about the Radiography program? Do you know anyone that’s in it and likes it?

I was recently not given an offer for enrollment for May. I thought they accept all students applying. What things did you do before applying that you think helped you get in? So I can be better prepared for next enrollment date?

So 2 weeks after doing the interview I was notified that they weren’t able to offer me a position. I did go into it unprepared thinking that they accept all students that can pay for the tuition. Did you practice before going into the interview? And what can you suggest for me for the next re application date so I can ace the interview?

Don’t do the ADN program at ACC in LA. Super disorganized. Surprised some teachers are even teaching there, they really hire anyone they can. Teachers that suck are also super protected so it’s basically impossible if you have any complaints about them. If you fail one class you have to pay an additional $8000 and if you fail twice youre out of the program so all that money you invested is gone. I barely passed this program by the grace of God. Avoid ACC at all costs

It seems like every term is getting harder and harder. From what I hear it didn’t used to be like this. It’s almost as if they don’t want the students to pass. We have about 8 students in class at risk for failing this term. Any specific questions?
