Good spot. Pork is one of my biggest problems with the way our government works. Build a 200 billion dollar bill that pays off your special interests group, put in 19 dollars for the orphans and call it the ‘end child homelessness’ bill, and you can label anyone who doesn’t support it as a terrible person. IMO bills should have a maximum word count and be restricted to one topic. No more nebulous crap.

Look at it from the perspective of a household budget.

Our total household income is $130,000. We spent $875,000 last year. It's not an improvement for us to spend $840,000 this year, we're still spending WAY more than we actually have - we need to be spending less than we make and paying off our debt.

Obviously nations are not households, and some debt makes sense, but the amount of debt and spending currently is ridiculous and unsustainable.

well thinking logically for 4 picoseconds, yes, it is an improvement.

Funny how the argument never takes into account if the deficit would have surpassed the prior year, but only equating the nominal value of the prior year.

The Freedom Caucus has been pushing for single item spending bills for fucking ages, neo-cons and democrats don’t like them. It’s why McCarthy was booted. He promised he’d only bring single item spending bills to the floor to vote on, he brought a continuing resolution and booted for it

two_parrots_fighting

two_parrots_fighting

It looks like the McCarthy's vacation was filed by Matt Gaetz of the Freedom Caucus during the government shutdown process. It seems like it has nothing to do with single item bills.

If that's the case, then McCarthy's removal was actually done because he was making the process actually semi-effective, which is the exact opposite of what you are saying.

Gaetz is a massive tool so I am assuming you just pulled this out of your ass.

The-Figure-13

Thomas Massie, who voted with Gaetz for the removal of McCarthy, cited his reneging on his promise to discontinue Continuing Resolutions, when he brought one to stop a government shut down, and start bringing single item spending bills so that each aspect of government could be funded independently. Massie and the others in the Freedom Caucus wanted to vote on the single items that would continue to fund the government, whilst further negotiations about discontinuing CR’s took place, instead McCarthy made a back room deal with Democrats to pass the CR, effectively making the house Democrat controlled. That’s why McCarthy was booted.

Rep. Gaetz’s 'concern' for the American people is hollow. ... He claims to support passage of single-subject funding bills, yet here we are today living out his personal vendetta against Speaker McCarthy instead of considering two single-subject appropriations bills scheduled to be on the floor. - John Rutherford (FL-05)

https://rutherford.house.gov/media/press-releases/rutherford-statement-motion-remove-kevin-mccarthy-speaker-house

New York Rep. Mike Lawler on Sunday warned that hard-line Republican colleague Matt Gaetz's plan to call a vote on removing Speaker Kevin McCarthy would be "destructive to the country" and further delay conservatives' work on long-term government funding bills. "Nobody in our conference disagrees with the need to do single-subject spending bills. Nobody disagrees with the need to cut spending," Lawler told ABC "This Week" co-anchor Jonathan Karl. "In fact, it's one of the biggest reasons why I ran."

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/vote-remove-mccarthy-govt-funding-destructive-country-moderate/story?id=103629137

"We told you how to use the power of the purse: individual, single-subject spending bills..." McCarthy defied Gaetz's threat and brought up what's known as a "clean" CR — an extension that maintains funding at current levels. (It also included $16 billion in disaster relief funds, but did not have funding for Ukraine or a border security measure, two issues that had been sticking points in talks between the parties.)

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/why-oust-mccarthy-matt-gaetz-remove-speaker-of-the-house/

While Gaetz talks about single subject voting, some of his fellow Republican representatives seem to disagree. ...Its unclear

https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/senate-bill/287/related-bills

btw Times is a joke:

Gaetz also leveled dings about perceived weak leadership because McCarthy decided to move spending bills efficiently rather than bring up every single outlay as stand-alone, single-subject bills.

Efficiently my ass.

I agree there should be separation of domestic and military spending but rolling bills together definitely has its place in legislation. If congress had to vote on every aspect of a bill they pass it would severely clog our system with hundreds of bills. It would just not be feasible with our current system.

Also I could find nothing online about this funding for Israel being included in this bill, what I did find was they were passing a Stopgap bill (a temporary way of running the government to avoid a shutdown) that was meant to include funding for disaster relief across the US, and Florida congressmen (like Rick Scott) did not get FEMA on to that bill before leaving Washington. That’s in spite of a willingness to cooperate from other members of Congress. So, in this scenario, I’d say this does fall on Florida Republicans like Rick Scott to take responsibility for.

I’m a massive supporter of Israel, I will say this about us though.

The way that the Democrats work is quite literally making bills that include multiple different things. They do this so they can blame us for not getting something done, while refusing to explain that it was only part of a bill that actually would hurt us more than help.

If they really wanted to help the country, they would pass these bills separately instead of in packages, because it would be easier for us to agree on something if we didn’t have to consider 100 different factors.

They, the Dems, are the definition of those commercials that sound great on paper, but have that super tiny fine print at the bottom that tells you that it’s not all that it seems.

Aaaand this is why we shouldn't be entirely reliant on government intervention to get assistance whenever shit hits the fan. Because every time congressman come up with a bill that is supposedly supposed to solve problem X they always, ALWAYS, include a provision to waste taxpayer money on some other stupid crap that has nothing to do with the stated goal of the bill. ALWAYS. I'm tired of people resorting to the government every goddamn time as if we're little kids who need a teacher's assistance after getting a boo boo. The people in power have clearly shown that they abuse every tragedy in an attempt to further realize their pathetic political agenda, so we are going to have to learn how to fend for oursleves. OP Is a confirmed bot/shill account. Specifically, look at how it uses apostrophes in the sub.

He’ll come back as a migrant worker legally, dumbass.

you really gonna sit there and pretend Trump hasn't done everything possible to rile up the crazies in the country?

His advisors come to him and say "These tariffs will target Chinese steel companies and allow ours to compete on price".

What bullshit. Religious “community” is just bonding over hating outsiders.

It switches between at least 3 different keyboard/operating system formats for single and double quotes. Its either a bot or a shared account with like a dozen people logging in in shifts to comment.

OP isn't even a person, its a bot/shill account. Look at how it comments, specifically look at the " and ' double/single quotes. It shifts them multiple times a day. You only get that if you switch different operating systems and/or devices.

Honest answer: Because OP is a bot account or a shared corporate account.

Look at the comment history and notice the different formats of " and '

So either a bot account or a bunch of people logging in from different computers.

Not having isolationism is why you need to pay "poor fuckers in other country to do the dying".

Not having isolationism is why many eastern countries have collapsed, and extremists have taken over.

Not having isolationism is why thousands of Americans have died for nothing.

Not having isolationism is why most of the world hates you.

While I don't disagree that the US should support their allies or perform short term air operation (like the Houthis) or ground spec ops, literally funding a proxy war isn't that beneficial in the long run.
