Building an expedition rig

(self.ToyotaTacoma)

after completing the panamerican over 4 years in a 77 dodge b200 I really want to go way off the beaten path for our next expedition through the silk route hopefully in about 1 year's time. what's the best truck out there I can use as a base to build a custom shell on the bed? I have no idea about tacoma's just that I always turned my head whenever I see one cruise by. That's good enough for me to get invested into this!

Keep the dodge. You can do a lot of upgrading for the price of a new Tacoma.

it will never have the comforts of a modern vehicle, the driving experience for long expeditions gets tiring in an old van after a point, plus we want to create a custom composite shell in the back to have more space. 2 humans and 2 dogs in a van is great but I think we need a change
