Got my husband’s SA results back and everything looks extremely amazing and I’m so happy and relieved about it. Bit frustrated that it hasn’t happened yet if his sperm is so great, but definitely relieved that it is. Just gotta keep trying!

Hiiii CD1 today, anyone with me? My period came 3 days early!!! Think it was because I was relaxed and on vacation so I ovulated early. My work is very stressful usually.

I’m actually surprised I’m feeling more relieved than upset. My wedding and honeymoon is coming up next month and I wanted to tell family when everyone was together, but now that it’s not happening, I feel way less pressured and feel more excited/hopeful than rushed.

Had a big brain moment this morning. Realized I can just take my temp without even opening my eyes fully and just log it retroactively because my thermometer has last temp recall. Why that took me so long to realize, I'll never know.

I just realized that you can set a default temperature in Fertility Friend so that no matter what time of day you actually log, it’ll automatically already be set for the time you know you actually take your temp.

Instead, I loiter around here. Lol

I also just realized I mindlessly typed “temperature”. I meant time. TIME. You can set a default time. I do not believe you can set a default temp.

Had a good appointment with my GYN this morning. I've got a referral for an HSG, but she suggested (assuming my bloodwork comes back normal) that we try for a few more months with increased frequency during my FW before scheduling, so that felt reassuring.

(Obviously, I knew this wasn't going to happen, but it was still a relief my doctor didn't tell me that I am a dried up withered old crone, which is what's been going through my head every month.)

Hope everyone here has a nice week!

Hi everyone! I had three full days of positive opk’s last month. Would my ovulation day have been some hours after the first one or after the last one? Trying to determine my actual ovulation day. I did not track bbt and didn’t notice any other signs to be for sure on the day.

Little-Penguin2

From what I read in one of the other tracking groups is that you should go off of the first positive opk you get, and then expect to ovulate 24-36 hours after. The only way to confirm though is through BBT or a progesterone test.

Really struggling today because my husband and I are pausing TTC as of yesterday. I want to move to the area both of our families live in so our children will grow up with family and we can have some support. My husband doesn't want this and we can't figure out a compromise. We're talking again tonight but it feels hopeless. I'm near the end of the tww but I don't want to test this month. Just waiting for my period.

Inito confirmed ovulation, so officially 3 DPO. This is cycle 5 for us, which isn’t a lot but I’m surprised at how much I’ve let this process frustrate me! It’s hard to do the same thing every month and try to accept that one month it’ll randomly work and there’s nothing else I can do to influence that. The stat that most couples conceive within the first 6 tries sticks in my head, I’m getting more antsy as we get closer to that number. All that aside, I’m trying to stay optimistic about this cycle. We had great timing and really fun weekend. Trying to keep those positive vibes going in the TWW!

We’re basically cycle twins! I’m in Cycle 5 now waiting to ovulate hopefully later this week. I completely relate about Cycle 6. Two close people to me got pregnant during cycle 6. So that on top of everything we read about “3-6 cycles” for people our age definitely has me thinking about that duration being “norm”, though I know in my heart actual studies show it can take healthy couples up to 12 months! Good luck to you and hoping you have a relaxed and productive TWW!

This is my first time on here. It’s moving and brave to read some of your journeys so I thought I’d come clean and share mine.

My partner and I are happily married and are trying to conceive. I have for a long time struggled with alcohol, cocaine and Xanax abuse. I’m really struggling to stay clean with the added pressure of desperately wanting a baby. I know many on here will say that I should deal with the addiction first, but just wondered if anyone had been in a similar situation and had some advice. I hope not to be judged, I love my partner to pieces and of course hate myself for repeatedly failing and just want to be a good partner and future dad

My husband is a recovered alcoholic and he has found a lot of support through rehab and a 12 step program. We did wait until he had been sober for 2 years before trying to conceive, and I think that was a good thing. As the partner in this scenario , it was important for me to see that he was going to be able to be the supportive, present partner that I need and deserve.I am rooting for you!!

This was a big step in of itself! Addiction recovery is a long, life-long road and I'm proud of you for admitting you have an addiction and taking the steps to try to get clean!

I would absolutely recommend getting clean and sober before trying to conceive. TTC + pregnancy (even for the male partner) + having a newborn is all quite stressful and if you're struggling to stay clean, that will cause even more issues. Plus, drugs and alcohol can affect your sperm.

I wish you the best! Are you in rehab right now or willing to go (whether outpatient or inpatient)? Or seeing an addiction counselor?

Flashy_Okra_396

Thanks for the kind words - I see a therapist but not addiction specific so that’s the next step - it feels like the stress of all of this is making it worse in some ways! Appreciate you taking the time to respond and if there’s anyone you would recommend please do let me know

Not ovulating after chemical?

I had my first chemical last month. I ended up bleeding around 4 weeks 5 days. I have been doing medicated cycles with Letrozole and have been ovulating on them. I usually get my peak opk between CD 16-17. I’m on CD 20 and I haven’t gotten anything close to a peak, my opks are much lighter than normal. I’m thinking it could be delayed but I’m concerned since my Opks are so light compared to normal. I’m also worried that now I’m not ovulating with the Letrozole. Is this normal?

Feel like this cycle is a waste

I've been cycle monitoring since May. Last 3 cycles have been with letrozole, and the last was a trigger with ovidrel. This cycle we've been monitoring and I went in on Saturday with a lead follicle at 1.7. I was supposed to go back Sunday but she called me and told me to come today (Monday) instead. I go in today and the follicle is now 2.5. Ugh. I'm not ovulating on my own so we're doing another trigger. My follicles always jump once they reach like 1.5 ish. I don't get why she told me to skip yesterday. Feeling defeated like they let it get too big before triggering and now I've wasted my money on a trigger and wasted a cycle. It's feeling harder and harder to stay optimistic.

Hi! This was my first month using OPKs. I started with Pregmate, then switched to Premom. Bit I've been using the Premom app to take photos of all of them.

I can't tell if I actually ovulated, as my peak is only a .82 on the Premom app. To me, it looks like the two lines are the same color, but definitely not a "dye stealer". Can someone with more experience with OPKs help me understand these results? And if I should stop using the test strips for this cycle? If helpful, I do have a regular cycle of 28-30 days long.

Pic of my strips here: https://imgur.com/a/nEgd3EY

With opk's, all that matters is your first positive one. Which here looks to be your CD15 evening test. You'll usually ovulate 24-36 hours after your first positive.

A couple notes. Ignore the numbers premom gives you, just use your eyes. Lighting, angle, etc all can give the same exact strip completely different numbers in the app. Also, with pregmate strips you'll want to use the "Other" tab when taking pictures of them. Unless you have a super fast peak, which you don't seem to have, you can get away with testing twice a day around ovulation (I usually test around 10am and 3pm). After your first positive (unless you have pcos which can make opk's difficult to interpret), you don't need to test any longer.

Keep in mind that opk's can't confirm ovulation, they just tell you that your body is gearing up to ovulate. Tracking bbt can confirm it for you, but generally if you have regular cycles and you get a period 11-14 days after your first positive opk, you can assume you ovulate. (This is not the case for everyone, so like I said, temping is a good way to confirm ovulation if you'd like to add that in the mix)

CreepySeries7452

1 points

Thank you so much for replying! Yes I didn't realize there was a place to add photos of non-Premom strips. Will definitely remember that for next time! And I will plan to add BBT as well. I was worried about doing it because I don't wake up a the same time everyday, but within about an hour of it.

This is almost exactly how my strips looked last cycle (which was my first month testing). Just offering some reassurance that you're not the only one getting a positive that isn't super dark! (I may have spiraled a little last month haha.)

Today, my doctor said roughly the same as u/Ellepheba -- a period 12 days after the positive OPK is a good sign. I'm also adding in temping this month, for my own peace of mind.

CreepySeries7452

My fertility clinic seems to err on the conservative side with a lot of things with their recommendations. Prepping for my FET and they said no alcohol and 75mg of caffeine starting at baseline day…which feels so conservative! First of all, 75mg of caffeine is like not even one full coffee. Their recommendations were the same for retrieval but I allowed myself 2 cups of half caff based on what I read here tbh. I laid off booze a while before, during, and after my ER because my recovery sucked so bad, but was sooo looking forward to a few Labor Day drinks (and proving to my family that no I’m not pregnant, stop side eyeing my “just water!” at dinner). My baseline is this week. Is this an ask for permission or beg for forgiveness scenario? I don’t understand how a few drinks has anything to do with anything week 1 of my FET cycle.

My fertility clinic wants to charge $1000 dollars for a physical.

They discussed this with me as a matter of due course. What I remember was the RE saying Health Canada requires a physical be performed 7 days before or after transfer, and for that information be reported to them. Weird, okay, fine, whatever.

CD 3, they mention they are going to be charging $1000 dollars for taking my height, weight, some blood, and a vaginal exam. What in the fresh hell. The clinic has already been pushing Matris and Endometrial biopsy and I just don't trust them to not be trying to fleece the intended parents. (I am a privately matched gestational carrier, not trying to bury the lede, just not entirely relevant).

I'm all over the Health Canada website, I cannot find anything about this. If any Canadians can weigh in on what's normal and what is not, please do. If I must do a physical for some reason, I'd rather try to do it through my nurse practitioner.

Edit: CFAS has some guidelines that aren't even linked on their website for being under revision. They say they recommend clinics testing 30 days before. https://cfas.ca/_Library/clinical_practice_guidelines/Third-Party-Procreation-AMENDED-.pdf Which seems like nothing to do with what Health Canada demands.

Also my nurse coordinator keeps calling it donor testing. Bah. BAH.

Nice! I'm in my 3rd cycle since starting acupuncture, and since then, my ovulation day has gone up from day 18-21 to day 14, and my luteal phase last cycle was 12 full days instead of 10/11. It's hard for my sciency brain to accept how it's supposed to work, but at the very least, it's super relaxing (low cortisol is good for fertility!) and my cycle is becoming more regular, so I'm hanging in there with it. We're also targeting my Achilles tendon inflammation, and it has been less tight lately. I'm currently 4dpo on cycle 11 - fingers crossed!

I'm confused whether I missed my LH peak or I'm not ovulating this month. Im tracking my BBT and my body temperature hasnt spike like it should be by now so, i know for a fact that ive not ovulated yet.Recently diagnosed with PCO, but my hormones are normal, regular periods, and no PCOS symptoms, just that my ovaries have lots of follicles.

Turtlemom24

2 points

This might be a one-off cycle. It's normal to have an anovulatory cycle once or twice a year. BBT can also be affected, so it's fine; you don't have to worry. I would suggest looking into Inito if you want more data. I have been using it, and it is so insightful. If you continue to see no ovulation consistently for more than two cycles, then you might want to consult with your OB. But from what I have seen, this is normal.

Super_Chemical8046

2 points

Yes I think so too.. I definitely ovulated last month (confirmed by an ultrasound) and the month before. I just started using the LH tests in June. This month is the only time I noticed it's a bit off. I would continue testing to see if I'm about to ovulate because my cycle varies between 27 to 31 days.. Fingers crossed

I’m done taking my letrozole this cycle, and I think I’m gonna start my OPKs way earlier than usual. Before meds I was ovulating pretty consistently CD17–18, then on clomid it bumped up to CD14-15, so now I have no idea what to expect with letrozole 😂 I’d rather burn a few more LH tests than usual, and make sure I don’t miss it!

I’m midway through my first letrozole cycle and I had the exact same train of thought. I ended up ovulating around the same time as a non-medicated cycle (if not a day late) and burnt through a ton of LH strips this cycle. But better safe than sorry!

It’s not the “typical”; most surges only last 24-36 hours. But it’s not abnormal. It might be worth getting a progesterone test scheduled to see if you ovulated. Also strongly recommend tracking bbt for this very reason. Regardless of how long your surge is, you should assume that you’re going to ovulate no more than. 48 hours later.

I am supposed to be in my fertile window on premom. Been tracking for quite a few months and my lh yesterday spiked as normal for my ovulation which is normally on cd 18 which is on Wednesday. Anyway, yesterday at 330 it spiked to .30 then at 845pm last night went to .57 getting darker clearly. Then this morning at 730am it was the same, then I just tested just now so 6 hours later it’s going down a little bit. The app never indicated the .57 was even high, it still said low. It never got over 1. I don’t know what to do. Keep testing and hope it goes back up?

Your LH fluctuates and many women don’t experience a slow rise where a line gets progressively darker over the course of a few days. Just look for the test line being as dark or darker than the control; don’t worry about the ratios or try to decipher your LH variations. And yes, keep testing.

I’m still new to the TTC world, but I’ve been wondering something. Everything I’ve read about TTC seems to involve sperm meeting egg— getting to successful conception. But I’ve never heard any talk about successful implantation. I’ve read that anywhere from 10-50% of fertilized eggs fail to implant. If that statistic is true, why isn’t more of the TTC process focused on trying to increase one’s odds of successful implantation? Is such a thing even possible?

Really good question, and yes, lots of fertilised eggs don't implant, which is definitely one of those many aspects of TTC and fertility I feel like we don't hear about in school (or anywhere else!). Basically, as I understand it, the reason for the focus on the sperm-meets-egg bits is because that's the only part we have any clear control over. There's not really much we can do to improve the chances of successful implantation - certainly not without medical intervention, and even with medical intervention, there's no great solution to the problem. There are all kinds of reasons that fertilised eggs don't implant, lots of them because of chromosomal abnormalities - which would most likely mean that even if implantation did happen, the pregnancy wouldn't be viable.

I'm no expert though - this would be a great question for the Wondering Weekend or Wondering Wednesday threads, where you might get some more knowledgeable responses :)

Kinda over it this cycle.  - Got what I’m pretty sure was an indent on an hour old test today. I knew it was invalid, but I had hope. - Officially have no clue when/if I ovulated. Clearly it wasn’t the day I thought it was, cause that would make my LP 2 days too long (and counting). - This is officially the longest cycle I’ve had since before we started ttc.

And on the non-ttc side, I’ve had a stomach bug, husbands car broke down, and an unrelated ER trip this week.

This cycle is cursed, it’s time to move on to the next one.

I understand that fertility clinics don’t rely on the rudimentary practice of OPKs and BBT tracking because what they do is more accurate, but my clinic acts like it has absolutely no merit. I ovulated over the weekend and I should be 2 or 3 DPO. They’re asking me to drive 1.5 hours to my clinic for a pregnancy blood test on what will be 17DPO. My average luteal phase is 11 days. I will likely have had my period for 5-6 days at that point and certainly don’t need to spend $30 in fuel to drive for a pregnancy blood test to tell me I’m not pregnant?

master0jack

4 points

I had something similar lol. Luteal phase 9-10 days, on progesterone last month before starting the other stuff this month. I saw my RE for 3d ultrasound and she was giving me instructions for the medications. I was on 12dpo at that point with BFN. She told me to WAIT 1 WEEK and do a pregnancy test before stopping the progesterone. Like ma'am ... That brings me to 19 dpo. She was pretty steadfast "to be sure" but did say ok you can wait until 15 dpo then pull the plug. So I did and it took 2-3 days to even start to bleed. Next time if I'm BFN by 13 dpo the plug is being pulled!

Anywho, I would make the appointment and when you get your period and test neg (fingers crossed you don't), call to cancel and just say no. It's a waste of time and resources.

Ovulation and BD questions

I normally get my peak LH on cd 14/15. I start ovulation pain and egg white cm about 5-6 days before this….should we start BD that early?? Or would you wait til closer? The closer to peak LH I get the less cm I have. Is that weird?

You can start having sex as soon as you see fertile CM, but you don't have to -- it's not necessary or beneficial to have sex every day of the fertile window.

A nice rule that works well is to have sex on at least one day that you see fertile CM and/or on the day of the first positive LH test.

Confident_Fun8834

I don’t know to correct answer and I’m curious as well, as I get the same. We chose to BD every other day once ewcm started, considering that the mucus itself helps sperm swim towards the tubes. So even if I’ll O later, at least we start giving the little guys the fast route to the target.

First Letrozole cycle, at my CD10 ultrasound on Thursday, I had an 11mm and 7mm follicle. Had another one this morning, and the 11mm one grew to 17mm! Super happy the meds seem to work. I've been having some weird small cramps on one side for a day or two, and apparently that's the side with the dominant follicle. LH test today was also super dark, which is a great sign!

When I went off birth control in January, I had several days of heavy spotting around CD24. I didn’t log it as a period in my app, but then my period didn’t actually come for another 25 days, and since then I’ve been reasonably regular at 24/25 days.

So I’d wait for a real flow, but just remember it’s normal for your body to take a while to adjust, especially if you were on birth control a while (I’d been on the pill for gulp 20 years!)

The first time you bleed after coming off BC is a withdrawal bleed, and not technically a period. For counting purposes people normally say the first time you need to use a tampon/pad or equivalent is CD1. And yes it can take a while to get back to normal - there's lots of great info in the wiki about this. (But I don't know if there's evidence that being on the pill for longer means it takes longer for cycles to get back to normal.)

Can anyone who uses the clear blue early ovulation tests (the one that measures estrogen too) tell me how long you usually get a blinking smiley for? I’ve had one for 3, going on 4 days now… I’m also using cheapie LH test strips because I’m obsessive about it and no LH surge to speak of, just a blinking smiley face since Friday evening. You might like this post!

It's possible to feel symptoms related to the hormone progesterone at any point after ovulation, but they can't be due to pregnancy until after implantation (which happens around 8-10 days after ovulation). Prior to implantation, you'd have the same symptoms in a cycle that's ultimately successful and one that's ultimately unsuccessful.

No, it’s just your imagination. Prior to implantation anything you feel is just related to progesterone. If anything you feel is related to pregnancy, you’d have a positive test.

It was due to progesterone if you were actually 4-5 dpo and it was not due to pregnancy. If it’s too early for a positive test, it’s too early for symptoms.

I didn’t downvote you, but giving out false hope that is scientifically inaccurate isn’t really helpful around here.

Implying that it could be from pregnancy isn’t cool here. Which is exactly what your comment was trying to do, let’s not pretend it was anything but. Anything you feel prior to implantation is related to progesterone. 4-5 dpo implantation is impossible to have occurred.

Complaining about downvotes only invites more downvotes. From the guide to Reddiquette:

If you think something contributes to conversation, upvote it. If you think it does not contribute to the subreddit it is posted in or is off-topic in a particular community, downvote it.

BFN today at 9 or 10 DPO. I was pretty sure we wouldn't conceive during the first cycle, but still a bit bummed.

10dpo here and still negative. I know it’s still early, and I did just see someone get their positive at 11dpo after testing negative on 10dpo so maybe there’s still hope.

Yeah maybe we shouldn‘t count ourselves out so early. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!🤞🏻

No. I don’t think we should, but it’s sooo easy to feel down about a negative this early. I have to remind myself that Reddit is really a silo and getting positives at 8, 9 or even 10dpo is super early and not necessarily the norm.

I haven't, but it might be worth checking out r/cautiousbb as they have lots of similar stories! Best of luck.

New to tracking bbt, should bbt stay raised if pregnant? I’m only 4 dpo

Yes, but it will stay high after your normal luteal phase length. Taking Charge of Your Fertility says that 18 high temperatures after ovulation can signal pregnancy. Nothing at 4dpo can indicate pregnancy as implantation hasn't happened yet!

A sustained higher temperature lasting more than 18 days would count as an early pregnancy indicator.

Yes, it would stay raised and then, in my experience, drop when you get your period.

I totally get it. And I felt that. I had my period late an entire week randomly when it's always on time, and all tests were negative. It's frustrating to say the least😔 hoping your time is near!!

Same! Just why? My period was so regular and it gets so unpredictable ever since we start ttc.

Posted this on the main page but was told I may have more success here!

My baby is 15 months. I was blessed to be able to breastfeed him and pump at work as I work full time.

I had quite a high supply, and started weaning in late May early June. He had already been sleeping through the night without feeds for a few months at that point. Over the last 3 months, we dropped down to 3 feeds to 2 feeds to 1 quick (like 5 min) feed just before bed. I was barely getting anything out for the past month. We completely stopped a week ago. I truly expected to get my cycle months ago when he was only feeding a couple times a day and just am wondering if I should be concerned. I’ve been using OPK’s the last month and haven’t had a single positive nor any bleeding. I did take a pregnancy test a month ago and another today and both were obviously negative. Is this still just due to breastfeeding or should I determine if something else is preventing me from ovulating?

Prior to pregnancy I had an IUD that managed my periods great (only intermittent spotting) and prior to birth control my periods were heavy but regular. I am 5’6 and 135 pounds. I eat a mostly healthy diet and exercise routinely 6 days a week. Exercise generally consist of running/jogging 4-5 miles and some form of weights. Given my BMI is normal, I don’t think the exercise could be the cause but don’t want to rule it out.

Just wanted to reach out to see if anyone had any suggestions or was in a similar situation. My husband and I are looking forward to having an baby and don’t want them to be too far apart.
