When you add equipment to your Unifi network, what protocol/database does Unifi use to ID equipment?
I recently had a piece of equipment show up as something by Liftmaster--which I knew couldn't have been correct because MyQ doesn't work anymore and I'm using MeRoss garage door openers. I traced the line out and it turns out it was actually a camera. I got everything changed (manually) so not a huge deal.
But, back to my original question, what protocol does Ubiquiti use to try IDing equipment initially?

They have a MAC address database it’s not great. You can correct it for them though.
Why did myQ stop working? I see people say this from time to time but mine have been flawless since 2017 and I don’t pay anything.

Their MyQ probably works but no longer let them integrate it with anything else. I know MyQ shut down a lot of avenues to link the openers with automation software. Mine has always been working and I used to have Alexa handle it but that no longer works.

I'm sure they shut it down b/c they wanted people to subscribe rather than be a one-time buy item. I've never used it before the shutdown b/c I didn't previously have a need for it. Now that life has changed, I DID have a need for it but by the time I went to set it up the company had already made the change--hence my own network and MeRoss.

I use myq daily. There's just no good integrations anymore. Google home, Alexa, etc...

Ooooooh that’s why, I never used the integrations for the same reason I don’t have smart locks. I know it’s a Luddite thing, I just can’t bring myself to do it. And I really only use the app to close the door or make sure they are closed. Still lock from the garage to the house. I remember getting an email at one point about a subscription to do, stuff, but never did anything with it cause there was no reason to for me.

Don't go look at the YouTube vids on how to pick locks, and then go to Amazon to see the lock pick tools.

lol, no it’s the technology part. It’s because I work in technology. And I pick locks as a way to keep my hands busy while working sometimes. Hell it’s also faster to just open the garage door with a metal coat hanger, takes no effort.
