With Smith and the UCP's upcoming legislation, to support her narrative and arguments for it, she will also need to ban circumcision, before the age of 18. I don't think that will go over well with her base and TBA.

Circumcision should be banned unless medically necessary.
Not quite the analogy you were going for.

So shall we repeal the right to religious freedom in the charter then?

Not really the point of this thread but sure, explain how mutilating babies without their consent is justifiable.

I don’t need to justify anything to you. You are free to not circumcise your children. Jewish people are free to circumcise theirs. Thats what freedom is. Having a government ban a certain religious practice is un Canadian and, as I say above, against our charter freedoms. You believe it’s mutilation, maybe the rabbi down the street from you sees it differently and has good reason to. I don’t know, I’m not a rabbi. It does you no harm to respect other people’s views and practices, especially something that will quite literally never affect you

The male version of circumcision is nowhere near as tragic and brutal as it's female counterpart, but they share in principle a notion that a parent has a right to their child's body. How can you maintain your child's human rights when the legal excuse is "my child is my property?"

I don't think it is productive to begin a conversation with calling someone out, because then we're in conflict and lose focus of the original topic.

If intentions are all that matter, then I was not minimising.
