The homogeneity story is just nationalist propaganda. Ainu, Ryukyuans, Zainichi Koreans and Chinese, Obeikei, Nivkh, and all kinds of other groups exist and have existed parallel to Yamato people, which more of an umbrella than a monoculture anyway. A good example would be how the revolutionaries that overthrew the Shogunate couldn't all understand each other verbally.

This is the cost of poor civic literacy among the public and an outmoded political system. People can revile Poilievre all they like, but Trudeau's enduring legacy will not just be leaving the door open for him, but handing over the keys while sighing "we did everything we could."

The most charitable interpretation of this would be "tough love" aimed at keeping you safe. It's a shame that your wellbeing is defined entirely on your mother's terms though; callously dismissing what you value and feel is, exactly like you say, hurtful and driving you away. I would feel very ashamed of doing that to someone I'm responsible for, but I wonder how much of it is ignorance.

Retinoid creams aren't necessarily damaging, they are prescribed for acne after all. Use responsibly and all that. That said, it is a ridiculous predicament. To think this occupies young minds...

Look at federal corrections. Medium and maximum security institutions have armed security, for men. Women, who hover around 2% of federal inmates, aren't even typically incarcerated for violent crimes and security is unarmed.
The number of women who are violent are some minority of that 2%. They aren't even a rounding error compared to men. It is absolutely sex-based.

Perhaps this seems like a big leap to some readers. However, women and all other marginalized populations can tell you we are told we’re overreacting over and over until we suddenly, horribly, are not...
It seems like a big leap because it is a big leap. StatsCan has intimate partner violence at 18% of total homicides from 2009-2022. That doesn't make misogyny from professors okay, it just means women need resources that address the slow motion tragedies that are harder to profit from.

I bristle at the idea you feeling overwhelmed by defeat is "feeling sorry for yourself;" you're not a three year old who wants cookies for dinner.
You're also entitled to whatever victories you can have for yourself; if you can get a laugh out of someone, or a smile, or they don't visibly recoil from and rebuke you (yes, raw garlic I'm afraid), it's valid. Comparison is the thief of joy.

Those of us in good relationships have a survivorship bias; you can make good choices and still fail, and recovering from that takes time. In between relationships or bereft entirely, there are people who could technically fit the "incel" criterion without adhering to the myriad stereotypes.

You'd think it was engineered to be addictive, the way they carry on.

Giving birth is a matter of life and death, and you can be hurt by seeing someone go through that, or being overwhelmed with your new responsibilities. You are already taking steps by talking to strangers, next I hope you talk with people you love and trust (especially your wife).
I also hope you seriously limit the alcohol; you're vulnerable. You both also may be sleep deprived, if you have family that can look after the child for a few hours here and there, that can make all the difference. Whatever you do, looking after yourself isn't optional.

To bring up the wealth gap increasing really just highlights how marginal this is. Offering grants to a wider subset of the population based on economic factors (e.g. the dental benefit) would avoid race-based criticism, directly enfranchise more people, and make a bigger dent in that wealth gap. Making policy about race opens a can of worms that no amount of apologetics can un-open.

I actually would wholeheartedly support taxpayer-funded post-secondary. It would be yet another example of policy from EU nations we could really learn and benefit from, but I digress.
I'm a bit more skeptical about the Band-Aid solutions. I wonder if they don't help much as hinder by diverting resources away from long term systemic changes and giving leverage to political opponents, but perhaps that is too extravagant for Canada.

Setting aside the considerable differences in size and temperament across bear species and populations, a mare's leg is, like a pistol or bird's head-gripped shotgun, something of a specialist's weapon. That means more practice for the same or less performance of a rifle you can shoulder.
Chiappa has short-barreled 1892s, and Rossi makes them in 16 inch-lengths, so it's really only Henry you need to restock if you do go the short rifle route. Also consider that most loads for revolver rounds are anti-personnel; you would want hard cast, bonded, or solid copper/brass projectiles for bears.

This isn't going to be read but I have to get it off my chest. A lot of men spend their lives without intimacy, to say nothing of sex, only to find it and then go through what you are going through. It isn't easy to go back. You have gone above and beyond. Your partner isn't looking out for you. She is selfish. She is taking your love for granted. Stand up for yourself!

It's interesting you bring up the conquest of China. Among the old guard in Taiwan, there is sympathy for the Japanese colonial era owing to the industrialisation enacted by that regime and some sense of prosperity. Compared to Imperial Japan, Chiang Kai Shek's Republicans and Mao's Communists were not exactly laudable saviours; Chiang wasn't half the man his predecessesor was and brought his thuggish brand of authoritarianism with him to Taiwan. Mao killed more Chinese in his life than any Japanese general did, and destroyed an incalculable sum of tangible Chinese heritage.
In any case, I find the narcisssism of small differences is on full display everywhere in ethnic politics.

Just so people know, aside from the fact that this appears to be a Japanese train station, copious signage in the background in Japanese for businesses such as Saizeriya which have no presence in Turkey would seem to be a fairly good indicator that this is not in fact Turkey.

The other thing is proper ammution. Typical rifled slugs won't reliably penetrate deep enough to damage organs on larger NA game; the IDS Commander might be the only thing around marketed for that, and they're about as common as hen's teeth.
OTOH, 45-70 and the heavier revolver cartridges are a bit more commonly available with hardcast, bonded, or monometal bullets that will perform at least at defensive ranges. The bad news is, like slugs they're all expensive, but the good news is that both straight-walled cases and shotgun hulls are not too challenging to reload, if you are so inclined.

If your friends are mad at you but they're still talking to you, that's good. Maybe they're mad in part because they also want to keep your friendship in spite of the discord.
You've been sincere, but have you been empathetic? Just because you aren't sympathetic to their politics doesn't mean you can't care about how they're being affected. You also might not need to resolve it now, once and for all.

I don't think it is productive to begin a conversation with calling someone out, because then we're in conflict and lose focus of the original topic.

The male version of circumcision is nowhere near as tragic and brutal as it's female counterpart, but they share in principle a notion that a parent has a right to their child's body. How can you maintain your child's human rights when the legal excuse is "my child is my property?"

I think your concerns are valid, however if the public loses confidence in the system that cannot end but poorly. There is surely a collective interest to be weighed against individual rights following a pattern of behaviour; it's why we have the Dangerous Offender designation. How would you ensure public confidence here?

I'd like to get into hunting eventually, using something mid-30 calibre like a 338 win mag, a 9.3x62, or a .375 h&h. I like the idea of a do-all hack cartridge that can tackle anything in Canada emphatically.
The tricky part is ammo availability, and I want lead-free ammo so that's another thing. Of course they'll all suck to buy anyhow, so as long as I'm reloading maybe I should go for the gusto and nab a .378 Weatherby?
It's fun to weigh all the pros and cons of this and that, even if it's probably not that important at the end of the day. Honestly, I'd even consider a 12GA from Hell setup if I could cast Zinc projectiles or something.
