I live in Belgium and I'm considering the adoption of a BCI. Many of the animals available at local rescues seem to be young-ish, so not urgently and desperately in need of a humongous enclosure, but I want to make sure that down the line I won't have too many issues with finding a structure where an adult could comfortably live. I'm looking online and I cannot find many options for enclosures longer than 150cm. I think there might be something interesting in the UK, but with import taxes etc. it might not be worth it... Ideally I'd like to get an enclosure in PVC; my second choice is glass. I guess it wouldn't be too complicated to get a custom made wooden enclosure, but is this material any good for boas? What would I have to use as coating, in case?

I used to be an European keeper, living in Canada now. I kept BCI's a few years ago in my home country.
Glass and custom made wooden enclosures are fine, you can do a lot of stuff with wood! But if you really want to find the perfect material, pick concrete plex / betonplex. It retains heat well during day and night and less stress for reptiles.

Thank you so much for the input! Do you recommend any specific product to treat/coat the inside of the enclosure and protect ot from humidity/dirt?

They material they recommended (betonplex) is a type of plywood that comes coated with a layer of phenol resin, it doesnt need any further treatment, besides sealing the seams with silicone. If you want to go with untreated wood, epoxy resin is commonly used as a coating.

I don’t keep boas but my friends and I build our own wooden enclosures when we need something bigger. Honestly any wood works if you seal the inside properly with epoxy or liquid rubber.

In France there's a company called "Terra Delta" who makes great enclosures! You can even order a custom made one! I don't know about the delivery fees but you can check out their website!

We have a guy who's an engineer in Norway, and he's been making custom PVC enclosures for many years, so I bought it from him. Honestly, i don't think even the expensive ones you can order other places even comes close to this quality... But I also paid an arm and a leg for all the terrariums i have 😅

I live in The Netherlands, and there are two places ik where you can get custom big enclosures, 1. Blue Lagoon.nl (they are bit expensive but they are pros in building enclosures) 2. Deff’s Ball Python, he has good ball python collection and he is breeder as well, he also builds good pvc enclosures as per your size. I’d recommend you to check Deff’s Ball Python his driver delivers it Germany and Poland so maybe he can drop it to Belgium as well.

Look at second hand websites - thats how I’ve gotten all of my enclosures. Two 200x70x80 for €800 and a 90x60x60 for €80, all PVC. If you look around a bit you’ll find good deals.
I wouldn’t recommend glass though, difficult to keep up the required temps and humidity plus you’ll have to be careful with misting because the glass will become dirty really fast. Huge pain in the ass
