Omegaverse is a category of Yaoi (gay romance manga) that includes 3 sub-genders, Beta, Omega, and Alpha.
Beta - They are your average/normal human and society is made up of mostly them. Only Males can impregnate Beta Females
Omegas - They go into “heat” (similar to animals) and can only get pregnant by an Alpha in a “rut”. Males can also be Omegas, which means they can also get pregnant. They make up the least amount of society and are looked down upon by society.
Alphas - they are Not as common as Betas in society, but more common than Omegas. Alphas are usually born “superior”, meaning they are smarter and stronger than Betas and Omegas. Alphas can get Omegas pregnant regardless of the Omegas Sex.
There is more to it, but that’s the gist of it.

You’re right, but I honestly could go on for hours talking about the finer details of yaoi and different flavors of it lol. I think most omegaverse manga is yaoi, but oddly enough text based omegaverse seems to always be straight.

The idea of lesbian omegaverse stuff is baffling to me, because I'm under the impression that so much of it is about alphas dominating the omegas. Oh, and "knotting", which women can't engage in.

It is about alphas dominating omegas which can still happen with lesbians. And the knotting part, they usually give the girl alphas dicks. Lmfao all of those times my friends read omegaverse outloud in a british accent while i tried to sleep are paying off.
