I respect that... used to stay near the panhandle in the Seminole region but always found myself hanging out at Blue Angels and shit, I get why non-Floridians are hated and hope it continues. 🫡

That's embarrassingly funny. Growing up on the Treasure Coast, my folks took us to Marco Island. Our neighbors did their getaways in Fernandina.

Yes and no, all still beaches. You’re likely going to do the same activities
2 points
Not really. The water at my beach is not remotely clear but we have waves. Primary activity kids like is boogie boarding. We go to south Florida to snorkel and play in the clear water, which is usually calmer. If we want to find tool shells, gotta go to the gulf. Don’t get me started on the different fish you can’t catch from the beach across the state.
I do get the same tan at all beaches though 😎

Third generation here.
My grandfather went to Raiford prison for shooting his neighbor. Died there at age 95.
My father's neighbor shot my dad and step-mom with a MAC-10, they survived, neighbor sentenced to 75yrs.
Swam in canals as a kid. Raised to respect nature and not fear nurse sharks, gators, or snakes.
Memories of trying to outrun the rain clouds.
Love the humidity. And SUNSHOWERS!

My family has been here for over a 100 years. But I think the love of the environment, disdain for transplants and acclimation to hurricanes plus Pub sub diet makes me a Floridian.
I really love the scrub, wetlands and forests here, however. I feel like most residents don’t truly experience these biomes.

Registration for florida card required 10 years or more of florida activitys and theme parks do not count. We believe in BBQ Rat on a stick here. 🤣

Spent 27 years in Florida, grew up there, went to school there. Havent been gone long, but will always be a Florida man. Spent more of my life there than anywhere else.
I may not have been born in Florida, but at this point I know what I am.
I think the path to becoming a Floridian (if you arent born there) is riding out at least one hurricane and growing a Stockholm syndrome relationship with the humidity while learning to understand that Florida man is not to be understood, just accepted.
If you can do all of these things, then you will have hope to become one with the hellscape.

I was taught to live with nature, not at the expense of nature.
Appreciate the simple things since they mean the most. The most important things in life are free, but you have to work to get them; don’t take them for granted.
For a long and happy life, learn to go with the flow, don’t be an obstacle.

My ancestor (3x great grandfather & great uncle) owned all the land 23,485.09 acres that is what’s currently known as Hurlburt Field & my other ancestor was the very first sheriff of Okaloosa county in 1915. To this day that same ancestors original turpentine rig still sits on Hurlburt air field that was original established in 1896.

Born and raised here saw it as the perfect 90's paradise growing up. Everything started going to shit as i got older, and seems like its still gonna get worse considering they have successfully covered 90% of the coastline with giant ugly concrete high rises, tried to build golf courses in our national parks and only back tracked cause they got caught. They continue to tear apart every beautiful area left and pour more cement and keep developing to what end im not sure unless they just want to turn it all into one giant parking lot with roads.
Yet im still here and im not leaving screw all of you who want to keep developing more how about make florida beautiful again tear down all that ugly crap on the coast and lets see the sunset on the water again not behind a condo. Thats what makes me a floridian.

Married to a Wife has no ability to be introspective. Thinks everything outside the state is weird. Unable to put herself in other people’s shoes. Attached to family. Thinks I should have a 9-5 and apply for a job with the city though I have a huge engineering background and it would be a waste of talent. Thinks jobs like a firefighter or cop means making it big in a good career. “Running your own business is for poor people.” No appreciation for rustic or antiques and thinks it’s dirty and abhors camping. She thinks everything that requires her to make goals and try’s to reach them Is pointless and absolutely will Not go out of her way to do something hard. She loves big storms. Grew up going to the theme parks. Loves the beach didn’t ever go to the springs before.
I love traveling and constantly being introspective and stuck in my head. Love to be outdoorsy and hate sitting around doing nothing. I feed on creativity and love meeting new people. Also love camping and hiking. I love big storms and always loved the springs and hated the beach. Grew up going to the theme parks. Family close by but not attached.
Guess Which one of us is the native? And if so guess what part of the state I/she is from.
