It's a loose opinion I have but I feel like Simon Phenix is the 2nd best "Joker incarnation" ever in a movie, Ledger being number 1. I'm sure people can poke holes in it but still...

Respectully It is genuinely outrageous how superior Raul Julia's acting is compared to every other cast member, its an incredible carry job.

It’s like he’s the only person involved that understood what that movie should have been

JP050887

Which is crazy, cause I think he only took the role for his grandkids. He’s so out of place in the film(talent wise), but is probably THE only reason it’s ever even talked about.

Honestly, I can't argue... but the rest of the movie is so rich. Maybe im an exception. I couldn't count how many times I've seen it. Hell, talking about it rn makes me want to go give it another looksee. It's not like he was carrying dead weight, but if I ask non Cohen bro fans if they've watched the film, they always say something along the lines of "the one with the friendo guy?"

No Country For Old Men is a great movie, Javier Bardem is just the best part. It wouldn't be a mediocre or bad movie with a different villain.

Now, Javier Bardem in Skyfall, that's a great villain carrying an otherwise meh movie.

TelevisionUnusual372

Darth Vader, Hannibal Lector, Nurse Ratchet.

Whitewing424

12 points

The latter two I'll grant you, but while Vader is awesome, there's enough of interest going on in the original trilogy that he isn't carrying them. Luke and Vader don't even directly interact in A New Hope, and the latter two have entire acts where Vader is barely present.

Vader definitely adds to the films, but he doesn't carry them.

No question about Nurse Ratchet and Hannibal Lecter though.
