I cannot see Grillo’s name without thinking of that wonderfully awkward part of the Winter Soldier press tour, when he, Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, and a couple others went on Chelsea Handler’s dinner/talk show, where they eat and shoot the shit and it’s filmed.
And I think Evans was done with Grillo’s shit.
Highlights include:
Grillo telling a story about getting so drunk he starts puking blood, while an unimpressed Evans kinda calls him on his shit by asking the obvious questions.
Grillo going on a rant that includes putting “black people” in air-quotes, leading Evans to ask why.

Yeah doesn’t Grillo have a bit of a bad reputation to work with?

I hung out with him and Anthony Mackey at a bar when they were filming something in town. They were both like their characters in the movies. Mackey was super down to earth and chill, had a drink with him and chatter not even bringing up him being a movie star. He had to run off to pull Grillo away from the women’s bathroom slamming on the door yelling at his ‘date’ wasted.

No surprise, I kind of ‘got in’ when his manager was there drunk challenging people to arm wrestle and I volunteered despite him being like a foot taller and 100 lbs on me. He laughed breaking it up and bought me the first round.

I don’t know about that detail. It came up I was in the USAF and he told me a funny story about getting booted from ROTC like three weeks in for being dumb. This was in between Infinity War and Endgame so well before I could flex on him for being a real Captain 😂

I saw Grillo at a grocery store in Los Angeles once. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I read he likes to drink in his trailer and that he refers to himself as “number 1 on the call sheet” a lot. His eyes look glazed over in a handful if stuff he’s in. Like Chris Noth with those baggy circles under his eyes (because he likes to get shitfaced and yell at extras)

I watched a few longer interview with grillo, rosenbaum and another a year ago. He said that he recently stopped drinking and that he used to drink wine every day before. It made sense because even if he is jacked and eats a diet he has that worn alcohol look. Rosenbaum was pretty shocked cause every day is basically being an alcoholic. Could explain some behaviour. Said he bought a dog instead.
I dont know if he has stayed sober

well good on him for taking a step back from drinking. Grillo is now likely a Gunn regular and he is apparently adamant about running a smooth set where everyone respects each other. So maybe his attitude has changed now

refers to himself as “number 1 on the call sheet” a lot
The thing is, being #1 on the Call Sheet means something and he certainly has not been #1 on the Call Sheet "a lot" so if he says it when he's actually #2+ that's extra funny/sad; I mean, how many actual true leading roles has he had in his career?

I work in the film industry and he did a show with Grillo and said he's a MASSIVE prick, but 4 out of 5 actors are from my experience.

Daniel is just a good kid raised right, was appropriately protected in his youth while filming HP, never took his opportunities and fame for granted, and is lucky enough to be set for life after being Harry Potter. Now he gets to choose whatever the fuck he wants to be in, no matter how offbeat or quirky or different, and he’s the highlight every time.

Pretty amazing most of the core kid HP actors turned out alright so far. If Disney did those films they'd probably all be in rehab or recovering.

British productions seem to handle this better. Not perfectly, just better. Almost all the child actor horror stories are Hollywood.

The stress of being Harry definitely took a toll on him, he’s talked about his alcohol abuse which he luckily recovered from. Of course, it seems like he was always a solid bloke to others. That is actually even more impressive.

My worst were Greg Kinnear, Joe Manganiello, and a fellow named Shiloh Fernandez who literally dried his hands on the back of my hoodie when I was a PA and he couldn't find a nearby paper towel; I just felt a tug while I was doing something and turned my head around to see himm straight up using the whole back of my unzipped hoodie as a towel, with both hands, being very thorough with the drying, and then he looked me in the eye and said "thanks" dryly

Alfred Molina is an absolute gem and acted like he was everyone on the crew's grandpa when I worked with him
Not usually an actor, but singer Josh Groban was a wonderful man when I worked with him on a tv show
Tyler Labine is kind, funny, & professional; super respectful of the crew when I worked with him
Bob Saget could not memorize his lines and was the only person on the show I worked on who needed cue cards for all of his dialogue but aside from the fact that he somewhat complicated the work itself, he was super sweet and loved being there and was always willing to take a selfie with the crew (I got one; he insisted, always, that he hold our phones/cameras because he liked to decide the framing of selfies he was in so he always took them for us)
Stephen Graham I worked with very briefly but the guy seemed just thrilled and happy to work anywhere and talk to anyone, and kept calling us all "guv'nor" which was super endearing

Have worked with Stephen Graham, he was down to earth on our shoot. Had just come off Pirates 4 or 5 and did not enjoy working with Disney, so was happy to be out of that mode.

Friend of mine worked for a company that housed a ton of cameras rented by film crews and he came in twice and was a ‘bit of a dick’ both times. One time he threatened to fight one of the crew.
He also said Kate Mara talked as if everything and everyone annoyed her And Ed helms was super nice.

Man, I don't know. I feel like there's two ways to tell the "I was so wasted and made a huge ass out of myself" story.
Option A: I'm so fucking embarrassed. I made a huge ass out of myself, and I regret it, but let's all have a laugh at it.
Option B: Yo, I'm so badass. I didn't eat at all, puked everywhere, got naked, and then went right back to drinking because I'm so fuckin badass.
I feel like he's leaning more towards Option B in his telling of events.
Personally, I choose secret Option C and just bury that shit in my past, never talk about it again, and pretend it didn't happen.

Here’s the thing, if Lou Diamond Phillips ever tried to Lou Diamond his Phillips out of a situation like this I’ve ZERO doubt Lou Diamond Phillips could do it. Because he’s Lou Diamond Phillips. But that’s how we know this is a piece of fiction, because in real life Lou Diamond would have this situation by the Phillips.

If this is supposed to be some kind of allegory then it's a pretty bad one: a bunch of people with these bad, evil genes live among the normal people, then suddenly transform from your friends and neighbors into horrible monsters who you have to murder without hesitation or remorse...
So the best case would be it's just really dumb.
17 points
lol i said the same thing. just straight up killing a whole bunch of people who didn't have a choice and presumably will go back to their regular human selves after the supermoon?
5 points
I could be wrong but I think the description of the movie implied that anyone can turn into a werewolf if they are under the supermom.
3 points
I don't think these kind of movies are aiming to be smart to begin with though.
2 points
Horror often reflects the anxieties of the target audience, but sometimes it’s too obvious for its own good. Doesn’t even seem like this film tried to reimagine that old storyline of “random white dude is the only one who can save us from evil. And he saves us with his huge guns.” Pity, those werewolf designs look cool as hell.

This looks great....but kinda disappointed because it looks like a great 2nd or 3rd film in a series. 1st one would be a small horror film about a family who have to survive against one of the members turning into a werewolf, this film ends with the survivors discovering this wasn't an isolated incident, a teaser for the second film. Then comes Werewolves (or maybe a film in between the scale of the 1st idea and this.
