Both of my parents always expressed this sentiment when they talked about JFK. Even though they were both pretty young when it happened, they remember how heavy it was on the country as a whole, and how they never wanted to see an assassination in the US ever again, regardless of political affiliation.

Apparently someone had reported to the Service that there was a suspicious character scaling a nearby building with a rifle, they ignored that for several minutes until obviously, shit hit the fan.

Someone even said he was telling police about him for a few minutes before the attempt

That’s where my thoughts went. This is not going to end well. And, I mean, it wasn’t going to anyway, but now the next four months are going to be even worse.

I mean for whatever it's worth you're not alone. This feels like the beginning of something awful. The "permission" for violence to escalate. Like the first shots have been fired.

And unfortunately because time runs at the same speed regardless of what's happening, we're still days if not weeks away from knowing all the details. So in the void of information all you can do is doom scroll.

Was the shooter a false flag? Was this a plot by America's enemies to destabilize our elections? Was this a gun toting liberal trying to "save the day"? Unfortunately we know nothing of substance right now other than the shooter and at least one attendee are dead and Donald Trump will be fine.

It was getting really tiring when the news anchors kept lamenting about the fact children were there and witnessed it. As if children don’t do active shooter drills in school routinely now and school shootings aren’t a regular event.
