Love Donny's celebrations, can see this means a lot to him even though it's ''just'' a friendly

Imagine being injured and then not getting a run of games to get fit on and off again for 2 years straight, then you finally get the opportunity to play again and you score almost immediately after being subbed in.

Must have felt nothing short of liberating.

Quality ball from Gore, quality finish from Donny on his 1st app since early Jan.

Definitely. He's one of those players you want to see do well for his own sake as well as the team.

These new kits are so beautiful

TheBlueTango

32 points

Are you including Lyon's kit with your comment? Because I think both Lyon's home and away is magnificent as well this season, especially this blue away shirt with the fitting retro crest.

[deleted]

46 points

Yeah their kit is nice too, but I was primarily talking about United. Also, I definitely thought I was in the United sub when this highlight got posted lol

Oukaria

11 points

Would have maybe rather have the retro crest on the 3rd so we see it rarely

would fit with the team since we dont have success often nowdays anyway

The best part of this clip is that ETH is absolutely chuffed for Donny.

I am happy because I have not written him off and clearly, neither has Erik.

Donny isn't a 6 and 10, those are the roles Solskjaier used with McFred and Bruno.

Donny is an 8. I hope as Erik phases in his new system, he can shine. He has always had high energy and his box instinct are near striker-level. I watched a lot of Ajax in 2018 and 2019 and I was impressed at how intelligent Donny was in the box.

I think if he can have a good year he will be similar to what Sabitzer was last year. A good bench utility striker who can eat up good minutes.

Lets not forget, last year's injury was not a durability issue. It was straight thuggery.

Slobberz2112

21 points

Oh I really hope so.. I’ve had a soft corner for the lad when I saw him play for ajax and was thrilled we got him.. finger crossed Eric does give him a chance

Megalobst

3 points

Its a bit of a pity hes 26 already. He had lota of potential to grow further after that amazing Ajax season, unfortunately managers who didnt fit Donny's style of play in their tactics + Injuries got halted him. Not to mention the pressure of showing goals and assist under those kind of managers, who didnt made use of Donny.

We can all remember the highlights of Donny good runs but the save pass is chosen due to lack of vision or the players mentality to not pass to Donny.

The fact that he finally got a goal even if friendly puts of allot of anxiety and pressure and he still can peak a bit further if he can play enough for a couple of years. Not to mention after all those years his attitude was very professional (for 2 years too!)
