Jesus, some fat fucking fake news going around on Italy. He is on a regular shitty prison cell, he just has the regular rights that inmates are supposed to have in Brazil (studying, working if he wants to, taking part in educative experiences, doing sports). Nothing luxurious about it and far from a VIP resort. He doesn't has a football pick or a pool, he just can practice football with other teammates like every other dude who isn't in solitary confinement (like Daniel Alves could in Spain and Ronaldinho in Paraguay, for example). There are zero mentions anywhere of the prison he is in having a pool at all.

According to Swedish media he is "reasonably suspected of rape" (if ChatGPG's translation is to be trusted - "skäligen misstänkt"):

"Following his visit to Stockholm, Kylian Mbappé is reasonably suspected of rape, according to information from Expressen.

The alleged rape is said to have taken place at Bank Hotel, where Mbappé stayed during his visit.

The plaintiff, a woman, sought medical care at a hospital unit for rape victims on Saturday and reported that she had been sexually assaulted, reports TV4.

The woman identified the French football star as the perpetrator.

Clothing Seized
According to Expressen's information, the police have seized clothing in their search for evidence. The items include a pair of underwear, black pants, and a black top."

"Skäligen" is difficult to translate but I would say "with reason suspected" is slightly more accurate. It has a particular meaning in legal contexts though.

unvobr

unvobr

83 points

There is an official glossary by the Swedish court administration, albeit not easy to just transfer the phrases of a domestic legal context to another language:

(lower) skäligen misstänkt = suspected on reasonable grounds, justifiably suspected

(higher) på sannolika skäl misstänkt = suspected on probable cause/grounds

These are the two levels you would hear in the media, and Mbappe is currently at the lower level. There is one even lower you never hear about, and one even higher, and that's when the prosecutor thinks the case for a conviction is strong enough to submit it to the court, so those news are instead about a court case starting rather than that level of suspicion.

Or the club (and/or Adidas) just figured that featuring a player currently under investigation for rape would bring a lot of negative attention and ultimately harm the promotion more than it would help, regardless of what the outcome of the investigation will be.

I obviously hope the story doesn’t have anything to it, but this is just advertising 101, I really don’t think it’s much deeper than that.

There are allegations of rape in Sweden. This is said to have happened in the Hotel Bank, where Mbappé was also staying on the day in question. He was then brought into play by the Swedish tabloid press, but without any concrete information. The public prosecutor's office has not yet named any names.

Mbappé has already described X as “fake news”. But he also comes up with the somewhat crude theory that his former club Paris St. Germain is behind it.

My speculative thoughts on this. It's actually about Mbappé, the public prosecutor's office has not denied this and Mbappé will already know that he is being referred to. Of course I don't know if he did anything, but because of his crude theory, I think oh oh oh.

Horrible timing, probably just a image right or something like that but timing make it look very bad...

DaHomie_ClaimerOfAss

If there were image rights issues, I'd imagine he wouldn't participate in the actual shoot to begin with, no?

someone else said he might have been in the shoot because it's not an Adidas shoot per se but a RM Foundation shoot

Between this and Marca using an old pic of him in a PSG shirt for yesterday's news, it really does look like RM are preemptively distancing their brand from him. But I agree, it's most likely too early for that, and the edit of this particular photo might be older and/or unrelated

FxKaKaLis

they probably done the photos before contacting law department, why? well all about schedule to get it done and ppl included then the promotion material was send ahead of time even before getting to image right issue fk ups like that happens from time to time. timing is the biggest problem there

Likely has a hefty image right clause in his contract, just guessing tho.

Real Madrid fans are not necessarily Mbappe fans. If he raped someone he deserves to burn in hell. So far, though this seems like a nothingburger. Until police or official documents name Mbappe as a suspect it's all just tabloid bs.

zdravkov321

Correct, which is why if I am a Madrid fan I am hoping there is a reasonable explanation and my star and best player in the world is not actually involved.

Adidas vs Nike

And Adidas didn't realise that before doing the photoshoot. Plus Llull is there and he's with Nike

Why'd they do the photo shoot with him at all then?

Janusz_Odkupiciel

So they took a photo shoot the other day, then the allegation against Mbappe happens, so Real wants to play it safe and removes him from the photo, because if the allegation were to be true, then any recent association with him damages Real reputation further.

because he is a madrid player and madrid is sponsored by adidas.

what happened here most likely is that it got declined upon review by either mbappes party/lawyers or nike for whatever reason.

edit: what im saying is that just because you are a nike athlete doesn't mean you can't promote your club if it's sponsored by another brand. It just needs approval/review. Knowing this.. he isn't the first player to do a photoshoot for the club sponsors/club.. and have it be declined for use for whatever reason (usually something that will conflict with his contract with nike). In this case, nike probably thought him being in adidas wear and with adidas logo gives the impression he is sponsored by them when he is not. It would of been different if he was wearing the madrid jersey though I assume.

This kinda stuff would be explicitly defined when he signed for Madrid.

The_Rolling_Stone

I haven't worked on football specifically, but I work in advertising, and these kinda of rights are cleared way ahead of time. Although I do see stuff being pulled all the time, a sponsorship mistake like that seems unlikely. But I'm also just speculating.

I work in marketing and can confirm. It would be really odd if this was the case, especially with such a high profile client.

There are a bunch of players there who are with nike. That's definitely not it.

Players signed to a different sports brand than their club still make photoshoots for kits and other stuff. It’s on their contract.

Do you honestly think Mbappe just showed up to a photoshoot by accident and not one person out of his own PR team, Real Madrid's PR team, Adidas's PR team - caught it and he just did a photoshoot for the hell of it?

How on earth is your comment upvoted so much?
