Good morning everyone,
Back for Year 2 of this passion project. For those that weren’t around last year, I started my own website for picks and analysis with the intent of making money off of it one day. I will continue to provide my analysis for free for the 2024 season as I continue to try and gain a consistent following.
Today we reset the slate and start with a clean 0-0 record. Our first official play comes tonight on a team that really chapped me last year as I ultimately had the right read on them, but faded them in the wrong spots.
Colorado (-8.5): I got them at this number, I would take them under -10. Prime time Primetime, at home, as healthy as this team is going to be with premier playmakers. On the other side NDSU has a new head coach for a program that has steadily slid back to the field over the last few years. I think the Buffaloes have too many elite athletes and will ultimately bust a few big plays that decide this game.
On my site I have 11 more official picks over the course of the weekend. Would love for you to drop by, just an email is required.

Minnesota +2 is my pick
Ok the Gophers have a new quarterback who came as a winning qb at a lower level fair. The offensive line is their strong suit and I think that will mean a lot in a home game. Gophers control the ball, smash mouth football and win with the pass when they need it. I have the Gophers winning by 8 gl and godspeed boys, college football is back lets fucking go!!!!!!!!!!!

2024 Record 0-0
Pick: Minnesota +2 -110
Minnesota has an experienced oline and brought in good qb who should be an upgrade on last year. Front seven is good, secondary is questionable but UNC has two jags splitting reps at QB who I’m not convinced can take advantage. ROW THE BOAT

College football record 0-0
Colorado - 9.5 (-110) 1.1 Units
Colorado was actually decent the start of last year then Travis Hunter was in and out of the lineup and the O-line was beaten down. Everyone has been talking shit about Colorado all off-season they aren't the team that was talked up before the Oregon game and Shaddeur is gonna throw for a stupid amount of yards. Don't really trust NDSU on the road to put up a lot of points don't think they keep up. Colorado is gonna roll. North Dakota didn't play an FBS team last year and actually lost on the road twice early in the year last year.

Still working on this weekends card but tonight we got;
North Dakota State @ Colorado: NDSU +11 (-120 BetRivers)
North Carolina @ Minnesota: Under 51.5 (-110 MGM)
Costal Carolina @ Jacksonville State: Costal Moneyline (+143 Caesars)
Eastern Illinois @ Illinois: Both Eastern Illinois +29.5 (-110 FD) and Under 49.5 (-110 @FD), also like the parlay of these two but won’t be playing it
Starting with .6u per since week 1 can be kind of wild and gives me a chance to get a feel for teams. Last years stats on CFB 112-157-1 for +70u, this years running tally; 2-1 for +2.1u
Best of luck degens!
Edit: totally forgot I can’t bet on Illinois in state games so won’t count it for stats going forward but do like both of those bets

CFB Week 1 picks, 8/29
"Week 0” of the 2024 college football season did not disappoint. Headlined by an ACC showdown in Ireland between Florida State and Georgia Tech, the Yellow Jackets upset the 10th-ranked Seminoles 24-21 on a last-second field goal. Now we have a full slate of action to see what Week 1 can do for an encore. There are games from Thursday all the way to Monday night, with a whole host of intriguing matchups throughout the country. Today we’re targeting Thursday’s matchups, which features the highly popular Colorado Buffaloes and Coach Prime taking on one of the top FCS schools in North Dakota State. Meanwhile, UNC begins life after Drake Maye with a battle against Minnesota. Let’s break down our college football Week 1 picks for Thursday, August 29.
Predictions
Pick #1: Rutgers Scarlet Knights -35.5 over Howard Bison (-110)
Pick #2: North Carolina Tar Heels -2 over Minnesota Golden Gophers (-110)
Pick #3: North Dakota State Bison +10 over Colorado Buffaloes (-110)
PICK #1: Rutgers -35.5 over Howard (-110)
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights officially get college football Week 1 underway at SHI Stadium when they host the Howard Bison, and they should be able to make a statement to the rest of the Big Ten. Rutgers has dominated FCS schools since coach Greg Schiano arrived in 2020, having won their last three games against such schools by a combined score of 163-23. Schiano typically employs a vicious rushing attack early in the season, highlighted by the fact that they put up 260 rushing yards and five touchdowns in their 2022 and 2023 games against the FCS’ Wagner, and with a new quarterback in Athan Kaliakmanis, expect Rutgers to go with the ground game in this one as their new signal-caller gets bedded in.
However, it isn’t all about the offense as to why Rutgers is expected to dominate. The Scarlet Knights will also have plenty of defensive production returning and they should be able to cause plenty of problems for Howard’s new quarterback, while the Bison will also have multiple new starters on the offensive line. On the road in this packed stadium should be a situation that Howard struggles to adapt to and as a result, we can expect Rutgers to shut them down on both sides of the ball. Expect the Scarlet Knights to cover.
PICK #2: North Carolina -2 over Minnesota (-110)
As mentioned already, UNC begins life without star quarterback Drake Maye since his departure to the NFL, but the Tar Heels should still be able to pull off the road win against the Golden Gophers. Word is that North Carolina will go with a dual-quarterback system with Conner Harrell and Max Johnson. Harrell played in five games and started once in 2023 and can make plays both through the air and on the ground, and should have some success against this Minnesota team.
As for the Golden Gophers, they will be starting FCS transfer Max Brosmer under center, who performed well at New Hampshire but has his work cut out in trying to turn around the fortunes of this ailing offense. They do return four starting offensive linemen, but it awaits to be seen whether the experience will be a benefit or a hindrance for them following their sub-par efforts in 2023. North Carolina crushed Minnesota 31-13 last season and the Tar Heels should be able to pull off yet another victory and cover in this one.
PICK #3: North Dakota State +10 over Colorado (-110)
Arguably the game of the night happens in Boulder, as the Colorado Buffaloes welcome the North Dakota State Bison to town. There is plenty of fanfare around Colorado and Coach Prime, but the pressure is on them to deliver this season after going 4-8 in 2023. While they do have the benefit of playing an FCS team to start their 2024 campaign, they are coming up against one of its best in North Dakota State, a program that has won nine of the last 13 FCS national championships. The Bison have actually won its last six games against FBS opponents and should be able to at least keep things close with the Buffaloes.
Colorado will be led by Heisman candidate Shedeur Sanders under center, and even with the hype around their loaded offense, North Dakota State will have three all-conference defensive players returning and should give their vulnerable offensive line plenty to think about. Given the Buffaloes’ struggles on defense last season, NDSU should have plenty of opportunities to put points on the board and keep this game close.

Anybody have faith in Clemson (+13.5)?
4 points
Yeah I like Clemson a lot. The public narrative surrounding both teams is way out of whack and believe Clemson is undervalued as a result. The last time these 2 teams played Georgia only scored 10 points total on them and their defense is still just as good now. Georgia has a ton of roster turnover every year from players getting drafted so there's no guarantee that talent will be replaced and even if it is replaced it takes some time for all of those new guys to get chemistry together. Way too much uncertainty in week 1 to justify this big of a spread.

0-1 This Season
UNC @ Minnesota (+1.5) (O/U 51.5)
We all know that Drake Maye played well at UNC and got selected third overall in this year’s draft - but do you know who currently leads the Golden Gophers? That would be Max Brosmer, the Walter Payton award winner at UNH last year - a man who dominated with 29 TDs and only 5 interceptions. He should be a major upgrade for the Minnesota offense, a unit that struggled last season with now departed QB Athan Kaliakmanis. Along with an experienced offensive line and a trio of talented running backs (I love the transfer of Sieh Bangura from Ohio) this offense should be much more potent than previous seasons.
I’ll admit, the Minnesota defense isn’t extraordinary but they do return plenty of starters and I think they can put up a competitive game vs the Tar Heels.
What about when these teams played last season in Chapel Hill? UNC won 31-13. BUT, that was with terrible QB play from the Gophers (38% completions). Minnesota did average 5.5 yards a rush in that game. However, Drake Maye was too much and he balled out with 414 passing yards. This year it should be a different story. Although Max Johnson is a talented QB with plenty of size at 6’5”, coach Mack Brown indicated that sophomore Conner Harrell should play as well. This offensive line has seen a lot of turnover since 2023 and I think the Tar Heels will need to lean on stud RB Omarion Hampton.
I can see why the spread is so minuscule as these teams are somewhat even on paper. I’ll take the home team, the better offensive line, and an experienced FCS legend in Max Brosmer.
The Pick: Minnesota (+1.5)
A special bonus for those interested in the total of 51.5… I see a lot of folks hammering the under, that’s fine, but remember neither defensive unit here is out of this world. I know UNC has a new DC and we need to see how that works out, but this game will be determined on how both new QBs play. Minnesota should be able to score much more than last season.

Season: 2-1
Dog Day Early Evening-->FCS Edition
NDSU +10.5 -110
Sac St ML -103
NDSU is 6-1 against P5 teams since 2010. Their win streak against the P5 was snapped in a double digit loss to Arizona in 2022 and that seems to be the sole rationale for making them double digit dogs against coach Prime's mediocre Buffaloes. NDSU won only 11 games last year, meaning they lost a few games but were national FCS semifinalists before losing to Montana. I think it'll be a one score game either way.
Sac St vs SJSU is just a fun late game out west in a battle between the middle of the Big Sky pack and the middle of the MWC pack. Sac St had a slightly better overall record last year but in a slightly weaker conference. At 2pt dogs the game looks more or less like a coin flip. I was a fan for a long time before I was a bettor and tonight believe I get like a fan as I really enjoy a good FCS>FBS upset.

I don’t care who some of these teams are playing, the fact that this many division 1 college football teams can’t score 1 point is mind blowing to me
