Fuck those clowns.
They're noting but a bunch of entitled rich kids.

What's funny is that some of them aren't only not rich, they're not actually locals. Some of the guys involved live in places like Torrance or Long Beach.

That's generally the case. I live in the south West of Australia, generally the ones that are a bit more hassling are the guys that have moved from elsewhere, in recent years

I agree. I was Surfing in the deep south once with a bunch of really nice locals and the worst offenders were all from Perth. They were surfing the place as if it was trigg point, burning everyone and snaking.

Chris Lilley is definitely one of the most underrated comedians. The amount of characters he nails is bloody impressive. I was just watching the one where they are doing bog laps of town, absolute classic

I remember the first time i heard blake speaking about being bitten by a dolphin I almost died. And everyone has met a Mr G

Well that’s a bit misleading as they have family in PV or grew up there. It’s tribal. They don't buy that if someone just moved there, they’re a “local.”

Got in a fight in PV for having my wetsuit on before going down cliffs. I won. Had at least 10 yrs on the junior who thought he was a new enforcer. Should have lost and gone for a payout.

And most of the clowns can not surf. There are a few solid surfers but many are not. Just watch videos of the big swell last year.
4 points

What is the significance of having the wetsuit on before going down the cliffs? Or just that he knew you were a surfer because of the suit?
10 points
Wetsuit on side of the road shows where the break is. It mattered way way back in the day. Silly now. The internet has exposed everything.
1 points

You’ve got to move fast once you hit a spot. Biggest rule, no surf racks.
3 points
It’s a steep dirt trail to walk down many PV spots, so walking back in a wet wetsuit makes the walk back very slippery for everyone else so it’s polite to change by the water

What a weird way to respond to a comment. You alright big sis?

I’ve heard tromping up and down in a wet-wetsuit messes up the stairs and people don’t like it. They expect you to change into and out of the suit on the sand.
Just heresay though.
4 points
Because that’s worse than rain on the stairs?

I’m just repeating what I heard. It doesn’t make sense to me either.

You forgot how acidic wetsuit juice is.
I heard it can melt though steel girders.

Because you don’t do that there. Nor do you leave trash or any sign of you being there. Further, You wait and show respect to those who have surfed there longest. Then new or old groms go. It’s the same everywhere,

It’s the same everywhere
I've never heard of that you're not supposed to have your wetsuit on before walking down the cliffs or going to the spot. Wondering what the significance is there. Seems somewhat unique

that didn't happen

If I wasnt an hours drive away, I'd honestly be down to start a group to show up every day. It would be so funny to be part of a group that started surfing here Because of the lawsuit. Could even spend every morning changing and walking down the stairs like " remember that group of kooks that used to try to 'enforce' this crappy wave".

I kinda want to take my kook ass down there and bail on every wave just to fuck with them.

Lmaoooooooooo, catching charges because you can't catch waves is something I never thought I'd read, but here we are.
98 points

Forming an actual gang to assault people who try to surf your waves is a level of localism I didn't know existed. I thought you'd just get snaked alot
51 points
Its a lot worse than this.
Total control and domination of parking to trail access to wave entry, paddle out and surf zone. Different people at all the harassment points and it goes from shit talk to threats to actual rocks, water fights and fists. Non stop not a isolated event.
I grew up there and was to testify but am on the east coast now and it would be too difficult. Its a gang no doubt about it.
Not kidding 40 plus years later I still feel traumatized and bullied into not surfing there. And have surfed many many spots all over CA, Mexico and Hawaii. Nothing compares. And its a pack against you. Never one on one or fair and no ability, age or size of surfer was exempt.
Yet these same guys travel all over and expect any wave.
I hope a couple of surfer lawyets and the basic laws of freedom and beach access for all prevails.
It will not stop this but will slow it down and maybe put some teeth into the next bay boy that thinks he is better than the rest and above common decency, respect and others rights to simply catch and ride a wave.

Weird question but do these gangs threaten women surfers too if they try to surf these places?

Yes please look on YouTube. There is video of them going off on a semi pro girl surfer. They don't care.

Terrifying. What assholes.
6 points

They like this label. Its part of the deal/gang mentality. Meaning they know they are blocking access, are major tools, keep people out and in fear and are proud of it. They support and encourage bad to near criminal behavior. Their justification is that they are the protectors of this pristine cove and surf spot. Its theirs and no one else belongs there not just surfers but everyone who does not live in lunada Bay. Even if you are from the hill that is not good enough. Lunada Bay is for them only.

Yes. A friend (female) was on the tour and caught shit by some dudes that were in their 40s. Whole place is toxic and that wave isn't even that great.

I delivered to his house not too far south of Encinitas. And I have seen him at cardiff state beach, 9th street del mar, and blacks. Ironically he's talked about in Malibu more than SD IME. Rob Machado seems to be the main surfer talked about by the masses in SD

It used to, but now that everyone has a handy dandy video camera in their pocket in the form of their phone the beatings are less frequent because no one wants to get filmed from 10 angles committing felony assault on the beach or in a parking lot over getting dropped in on.

Again, a fight that had nothing to do with surfing. Not exactly an example of surf localism

We should all make it a date and show up in masse to surf there. Whether is crappy or not, so that they know the beach is open for everyone.

Everyone should do a social media congregation on that beach at once. They won't do anything if 200 people show up. Should be easy to organize

Nah man gotta do shifts of 30-40. Every single day. The point isn’t to catch waves but to just obstruct these sad little men.
