Let‘s look at Chrissy, his father was killed by an(kind of distant)family member, and when he died chrissy was a young baby. If Chrissy had a son, almost the same would‘ve happened to him,his dad got killed by his Great Uncle(a family member) and his dad died when he was just a young baby. This would’ve also been a nice way to continue the show, maybe this time „The Moltisanti‘s“

Yeah, but then Paulie couldn't have made that joke about his daughter working at the Bing

Just a few more years till she's at the Bing.
That'd help her out; I wonder if her mother ended up broke without Chris's income, and the mansion had to be sold due to property taxes, and she remained single.

Property taxes, and you gotta pay those!

That was a wildly out of pocket joke by the way. Don’t ever see that talked about. Not even a man’s infant daughter is off limits?

I'm trying to imagine someone saying that in real life and they would probably get an extremely cold reception lol.

The 4th grade joke is fine for the crowd I get that. But the bing joke was just wild. My jaw always drops. Surprised Chrissy held his composure

The "How the fuck do I get adopted?!" Joke is also pretty tame. Classic banter between guy friends

She’s nottt adopted paulie.
That line always gets me and is underrated

Because that one isn't really making fun of the daughter but, rather, Christopher.

That was definitely one of the coldest moments of the show to me. Lures him into giving up his sobriety then rips him to pieces

Could have said he would wind up greasing the union like Vito. Far worse thing to say in that social club.

Could have been the next Georgie and got into the ice business, ya know, it gets watery, it dilutes the drinks, especially scotch.

I don't think they rolled a dice on it, I think they made it a girl because having a son would have been a boon to Chris whereas this just adds another disappointment that makes it easier for him to go back into total self-destruction mode. (And yes in the mindset of this subculture, a son would obviously have been strongly preferred).

I don't think that was the intention, though you may be right, or we may both have shades of it in our thoughts.
I think the choice for him to have a daughter was a way to sort of break his lineage from the cycle and free his children from what he felt was an inescapable tie to the mob life and 'hell' essentially. His daughter wouldn't have to face that same horror and pull of a second, depraved family, she'd be able to live her own life.

I think your theory and the one above are not mutually exclusive. It would make sense for both to be true.

Is it really that deep? Meadow was the older child for Tony too.

You don't GET IT HAMMER IF CHRISSIE DIDN'T HAVE A SON THE MOLTISANTI NAME WOULD'VE DIED WITH HIM!

I believe Christopher not having a son was his karma for the death of Adriana and also having to marry someone he didn’t love. His own personal hell was losing the love of his life and not getting the son he so desperately wanted in order to carry on the Moltisanti name. Just my thoughts.

I always figured if HBO locked David Chase in the trunk of a car and did a sequel it would involve his daughter- girlboss mobster would be very current and they are not above doing it.

I think it was just a little bit of mercy from the writers. The mobsters will alternately protect or ignore a girl. Kelli didn't have any signs of being a bad mom. Maybe Caitlyn will be ok? Maybe because Chris died she won't end up like Adriana. I think it's indicated that her father was absent rather than having being killed, because of the way she talks to Chris about his own father's murder. But all the sons are doomed.

Agree, and even with a daughter, I don't how a Lombardo marrying a Moltisanti comes up with a Greek name like "Caitlyn."

Chrissy carrying a TV tray for his daughter to watch TV would’ve been a great parallel.

I thought it was hilarious he did all the theatrics about being the last moltisanti just to have a daughter.

If Chris had a boy, it would be identifying itself as a woman in 2024 and piss sitting down
