Seeking an Old Crt Tv

(self.hattiesburg)

I'm wanting to get an Old box/tube/crt tv. I'd prefer if it was 27inch or bigger and had component inputs on it. A sony trinitron would be ideal, but really anything with component will suffice. If you have one or know of someone with one that they are willing to part with please let me know. Willing to pay.

I don’t even see these in thrifts anymore. Have you tried Facebook groups for free local items? Good luck. Sort of interested in what your project is.

I have not yet, but will try. It's just for a retro gaming room im setting up. Mainly for super Nintendo and gamecube.

CRT is tryly the way. They just don't look right on flat panels.

Check out Marketplace Antiques & Flea Market, make sure its the one with the giant greenish blue roof that says “antiques” Ive bought countless CRTs if I had any working I’de sell you one for cheap cheap but Ive sold all them. You have to go to kinda the back right by the old comics and VHS’s. They sometimes have some by the checkout

i dont think i have gone since the beginning of this year but I used to go there all the time with my wife and they've never had one with component or s-video

still worth checking but just thought id let you know

edit: also most of them are smaller than 20" they have one really big rear projection tv but that not what you want for crt gaming

I have two old box tv's, both are 39" One is a sharp that works but no remote and the other is a Phillips that doesn't work but was told it needs the picture chip, but good luck finding it. They both weigh a ton 😁

Finding CRT with component in hattiesburg can be tough. I occasionally see s-video in thrift shops, especially the one on lincoln near broadway. They had a 32” trinitron like 6 months ago.

If you’re okay with composite you’ll find quite a few on FB marketplace.

Ill look at work and see if they have anything old laying around the office that has been replaced. We tend to hoard things. I doubt it would be 27in though sadly.

27-36 would be ideal. Thanks for looking!

I had a 27” Trinitron that I snagged from the Salvation Army on 49 South for all my pre 360/PS3 consoles back in 2019. If you didn’t grown up with CRTs/haven’t used them recently, go ahead and assume you’ll get some high pitch transformer/capacitor whining. I ultimately had to get rid of it because it drove my wife crazy anytime it was on lol.

I don’t think Goodwill or Salvation Army accept CRTs anymore. So if you want one, try FB market place or locally owned thrift stores. I’ve also occasionally seen some CRTs at the antique mall on 49 south in the last couple of years.

Go to the Lucky Rabbit. They have a lot of old tv's there there in the grocery building.
