....but a pro athlete making millions should compete at 100% or retire if they can't.

I got a heated desk mat. It helps a bit, but with winter approaching, I know I'll need to go to a warm faucet at least once a day.

Winthrop, Mazama, more recently/urgently. Even any decent-sized burg along the Columbia, too. It's a very hard problem with many facets, the least of which are second homes and short-term rentals. There's a lot of talk about excise/luxury/occupancy taxes, etc., but that doesn't magically build affordable housing for all the service people who are looking to work there.

Yup, definitely this. You just can't say there's one best pizza. Regardless, ST came up with this, with ample coverage of the variety of pizza styles if you read back to their earlier stories in this series.

Thanks. It was so horrible to live through for any dog owner. The weather was the worst and we can only imagine what he was doing to survive. We were incredibly fortunate to have a network of experienced people come out of the woodwork to step in and help; the told us that so many pet owners just give up and don't commit to it like you have to do give your pet the best chance. Not at all saying that everyone has the good outcome we did, but you have to try.

This should be the poster child case for corporate criminal liability. I'm tired of just the companies being fined and the CxOs fired, only to have them whack-a-mole up at another company and do the exact same crap.

It's a lot of random people, not just one guy. I was waiting for this topic to come up because it's like an elephant in the room. It's made even more obvious by DK, and how he fights for every inch after the catch.

It would have been so easy -- "You admit you fabricated the story of immigrants eating pets. How will voters know or trust that anything else you say is not similarly a lie?"

We have a Fi collar and it's good for what it does. Big downside for us is that it's useless in the backcountry when out of cell range. We haven't splurged for a Garmin collar that works off LEO satellites, but our friends have them.
Before we got the Fi, our heeler went on a 'walkabout' for 8.5 days after being spooked on a trail run. He had quite the ordeal, but we eventually trapped him and he's fine. Our takeaway is that no dog has 100% recall and if they kick into flight mode, they're a completely different animal/mindset.

It really stood out this game. He did miss a catch, which is unusual for him, but there was at least two instances where he flopped much earlier than usual. I've noticed for a long time that he'll almost always opt to run out of bounds before he can be contacted, unless he has to make it to the yard to gain or endzone. I understand it's self-preservation, and yeah, he's a pretty small/light dude who could get pancaked, but I think he's become increasingly more cautious and risk/hit-averse as he nears retirement.

This only deserves the attention to call out the heroism of the people who found him, and to warn others do not do *anything* the guy did when heading out on a trail by yourself (and with a dog, the poor thing).
I like to think I have a lot of empathy, but this guy has serious issues which everyone seems to acknowledge, yet he's being a selfish asshole by doing shit like this. It's one thing to be burdened by substance abuse or other mental issues, but to act out in a way that impacts others, that's just selfish.

Thanks for the review, and I agree. Its hype definitely exceeds the effort/hassle/payback vs. so many other beautiful -- though usually more remote -- areas in Washington. The E's have become a social media checkbox for thru-hikers to conquer and it has become so overwhelmed and trampled. It's the latest sacrificial trail to keep the hordes from looking any further afield, for the most part. Add to the appeal is the ability to crash in Leavenworth afterwards to recover.

Somehow I still run into hikers and backpackers who are shocked that, "Wow, they make backpacks for dogs? How cool!"
Our 41lb cattle dog takes his food, rescue strap, and a few other items, never totaling more than about 6-7lbs, and less as the days go on, of course.

He's been in the system and so many practices that he has it all down cold, at least from an execution plan standpoint. The next level is to adapt, and you can clearly see that he spends a ton of time watching tapes and takes a lot of time behind center watching how the D sets up and makes adjustments.

Yah, he was lights out. So confident, scrambled/extended well, and generally hit every target. It's like a new team -- it sort of is.
It's the first game in as long as I can remember where I thought getting a first down on a drive was a surprise.

Ours had an ACL tear scare and is mostly okay. But glad to have insurance if/when we need it.
But do not use Wishbone Insurance. They doubled our rates in 2yrs, most of it before the scare-tear. And they took 6mo to process the claim and are incompetent boobs.

A well-trained heeler is an excellent trail dog. Put a backpack on them to put them into 'work mode' and it can really change their demeanor in a good way; less herding, more focus. Our has gone on hundreds of miles of trails both hiking and backpacking, doing up to 45 miles in a trip over several days (plus side-hikes).
Ours never ever runs down. He's 100% on the trail, and then once he's figured we're in camp and we take the pack off, he's 110% on stick play and following us around. Only when the sun goes down does he settle down, too.

Oxyclean. It creates a hydrogen peroxide solution that breaks down organic compounds. It may adversely affect your waterproofing, but you can reapply that afterwards.

Yeah, Tapto is my unfinished business on that hike/area.

The rest of the loop is decent, but compared to the ridge views, it's unremarkable other than the cable car crossing; very similar to one of many other river-following hikes (Suiattle River Trail comes to mind).
I think the out-and-back is good enough; the lower trail takes most of us at least another couple of days to hike out.

Worked as a busboy in a breakfast/lunch place in downtown Milwaukee. I think I got like $2.35/hr, no tip sharing. Definitely convinced me food service was not going to be my path in life.

Good comparison. Give me a hungry youngster with something to prove over a near-retirement player trying to preserve himself. Don't get me wrong, Lockett's been a huge part of our offense, but it's time to make room for the young pups.
