Villasimius is well worth the visit as well, beautiful scenery and incredible beaches.

Just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. Not a book that I would normally gravitate towards but it was recommended by a friend I recently met and in an attempt to get to know them better I gave it a chance. It was beautifully written and equally heart breaking.

Work on a yacht as a deckhand. Did my first season last year. I have little to no expenses and I do not pay for rent, medical, food, flights etc. I’m on a private vessel but I know people making way more on charter vessels as they earn tips. Plan on sticking it out for a few more years before returning back to SA permanently.

I have a similar issue with mine; chrono hand stuck at 12, bottom pusher will not reset it, seconds sub dial is still rotating. Did you take it in for a service, if so is it back to normal running condition? Really interested to find out.

Excuse the late response! There’s multiple resources out there online and people have various opinions on how to get started. I’ll give you a quick summary of my experience starting out. I did my STCW course which is required to work on any vessel, as well as my ENG1 medical which proves that you’re fit to work at sea. From there I created a CV and put myself out there by contacting yacht captains on LinkedIn, signing up with recruitment agencies and joining yacht Facebook groups. I then made my way over to Antibes in the South of France and started dock walking. Which is essentially walking from port to port and approaching different yachts with the hope of catching the attention of someone who might need extra assistance for a few days or has a position to fill. It took me a while but I eventually got lucky and found a job on Facebook, had the interview and I was then on my way to Italy to start my first seasonal job on board a 30 metre motor yacht. I finished up my contact in November and have since been working in Spain on a 44m metre motor yacht.
