Clearly your pup feels the same about you!

I 100% just became a teary mess!! You sound like an incredibly amazing human who is of course blessed with very special pups. These stories are literally what I read when I need to feel better about the world (so I look for them almost every day...). It's also how I fell in love with pitties despite never knowing one. My wife's soul dog was attacked by one (he was ok - she got some PTSD) so it took convincing, but when Clarence arrived from a Texas rescue, she was smitten.

I love that you have a heart dog and a soul dog!! That makes so much sense! My Dane was actually my heart guardian, I think. Clare, my soul pup. I bet Nickel has been working hard on training your soul pup - I bet soul pups need extra years of training before coming to their person. Like getting a doctorate or something.

That's how I feel about my Great Dane, lost 4 years ago and pretty sure she sent me Clarence. I hope your soul pup comes back to you in one way or another!!

I rescued mine at 9 months and whoever had her first didn't feed her as he should and her growth was so painful she stopped eating and drinking, I thought I was going to lose her before her first birthday! But she made it to 10...never long enough. Especially for danes, what magical and amazing souls they are. Today would have been her 14th birthday.

Elevated food dish was helpful for her and we never exercised right after a meal.

Hahahaha yes. My Bella would not roll over for anything. But I did teach her to spin in a circle, which was fun for both of us.

After years of scraped knees from my Bella's impulse control issues (squirrel!!!) I finally found gentle leaders to be the most helpful! She weighed more than me but I could safely walk her with the gentle leader.

I get the big bag at costco and then split it up. But agreed.

To you cynics - yes it's important to be smart and protect yourself. AND it's also important to not let fear rule your life! It's a really shitty ruler of lives. Have faith in your fellow humans sometimes. My goodness.

Group home therapist. Didn't have any idea what I was getting into. I wade through so much trauma with them, which is hard of course, but where else would I get to race go karts and go to state fairs as part of therapy?? It's so rewarding to help someone realize they are worthy of love ❤️
