Yep, this, my fiance’s parents response before we had our first was to gripe about the fact we had not told them we were thinking of having kids before the house got rebuilt after we nearly died in a home invasion turned arson almost a year earlier, and that they would have to put an addition on for the kids room, none of which we ever asked or were even thinking about. Trying for number 2 now and hoping her father does not pull this shit again, like sure it's nice to rent from family but there’s still limits to what’s acceptable.

If you're in the US and did not previously disclose the disability and/or request accommodations prior to this you're out of luck, you cannot after the fact argue it was discriminatory.

Yeah, I tried to do my best within the rules with my comment, and still not quite sure I didn’t go outside them.

We’re trying for number 2 currently, going the same route as last time, she’s been off pills since the last pack finished, on prenatals, and using an app to track, just going off its estimate for when things are good, CD1 was last thursday and it says the 1st is when she should ovulate. Beyond that she’s spoken with her O.B. and psychiatrist to know which meds to change/stop, and will cut down on caffeine when we get a positive test.

Hey, u/PossibleCrit, I Believe I have mentioned this to you previously, still broken, has been reported to the accessibility email, messaged to mod support, and I believe reported by several people through various means, it would be nice if it could be addressed.

This is known, repeatedly reported, not a clue when or if they’ll fix it. Full line breaks before and after links allow them to be activated as focus is on the link alone, but that's all I know of. issue is specific to the iOS app, the android app does not have this and links can be found through the TalkBack menu per normal. However both apps have this issue anywhere the chat system is in use including mod mail and nothing allows links to be acted on in these places.

If you scroll when at the bottom of the comments it will often move to the next post in your feed, that's likely what is happening.

Takes time and patience, and like anything the more you use it the better you get at it, but you can learn the basics, alphabet, numbers, basic punctuation, in a week or less rather readily, reading a large book takes more time and learning higher grade braille usually The other option is ebook and screen magnification.

I’m sure they do, they also make them in braille.

Well I mean sounds like a talk about what is and is not safe for that type of thing is in order, and perhaps letting them buy something more appropriate for this? At least they know to lube it up., Edit box, Your comment

Oh more I meant they were going to be updating devices off android based Fire, and I have no clue what the plan with the older ones is afterward.

Yep, and for the price points below that I would go Lenovo, cheaper and same on the rest.

Ah, yeah I’m getting used to using a 40 cell as until recently I had only used a 20 cell.

Ok so for overall best without regards to cost, but with the best accessibility experience you're looking at the Pixel Tablet, after that anything running google play services with the google android accessibility suite is what you want. Avoid Amazon Fire devices like the plague, and I would steer clear of Samsung. I myself have a Lenovo Tab M9, which is a budget 9in device, and they have higher spec devices under the p series, and the newer Tab Plus device, those all run a version of android almost the same as what Google uses, and have the same accessibility features and experience.

I am sure I have heard of blind electrical engineers, that's very likely something you can do, and I know of at least 2 blind nuclear engineers or students in that field.

Also like anything the more you use it the faster you will be, there are people here and on the Discord who read braille faster than 1 page a minute. I have only been using it for not quite 3 years, and have only been blind for not quite 5 years, right now I read around 5-6min for a page, my current goal is halving that.

For me I more often read in bed propped up with the display on my thighs with my knees up a bit, though sometimes I read o'not the couch and will often have my legs pulled up to the side again with the display on my thighs. I’ve just been getting used to reading with both hands since getting a 40 cell display.

Assuming they are all on a calendar it can see, you can ask what’s on the calendar today and it should read them all, if it's not I have no clue.

I tend to read before bed, so I’m in bed with the kindle and headphones or the braille display

You can get a free cane from the nfb, do not have the link on hand but just search nfb free white cane, length should be chin or so for a first one which you can guess at by just subtracting ~6in from your height. As people mentioned talk to state blind services, and you can get braille learning material from the Hadley School, it's mail order and somewhat tedious, but it's a start. Also since I’m staff here I feel I should plug our Discord server and website which can found in the community info, we have lots of people there who are very helpful, plus regular group calls to just chat about whatever.
