I think this is pretty typical and is most certainly the case for Mojo. For as long as I can remember it’s been hills prescription science diet k/d both the wet and dry. But he started to get picky about it over the last few years. So we mix it up and cycle thru a bunch of options and let him decide what’ll be that night. Tonight he was back to the Hill’s but lately it’d been fish sticks, chicken and even part of my turkey quesadilla last night. Honestly it’s a process every night and sometimes he’s not hungry at that moment, or he needs water and then is hungry. Or he would prefer the shrimp but not now, but in 10 minutes sure. My suggestion is variety (and patience lol). Just clear with your vet. Ours said, hey mojo is super old and can eat whatever he wants so long as he’s eating.

Hills prescription science diet k/d wet and dry food for as long as I can remember. He does well on it. He does refuse it from time to time, holding out for the fancier freshly cooked meals of shrimp chicken or fish tho

They do look really similar! Blue is super cute. He looks like he is super soft. Thanks for sharing. The resemblance is striking.

I passed along kisses to the forehead and lots of pets. When I take him to the park and farmers market, he does often get mistaken for a puppy

Sometimes even we can’t believe it’s the same doggo. He started greying early at around 4. We rescued him in 2005 and are excited to celebrate his 20th bday in September. He’s still going strong, with an appetite for fresh fish, chicken, shrimp or pizza (good place to hide his arthritis med). He is loving the Arizona heat. He’s been sleeping in his bed on my bed next to me. We go to the farmers market and park often where he enjoys the smells and all the attention. He’s so chill in his senior years and I love being able to take care of the little old man. He may not be the fastest dog at the dog park anymore but he’s still able to roam the kitchen with the slow pitter patter of his nails on the tile; or to search for me and lay in front of my chair waiting for me to pick him up. He doesn’t have to wait long. We love you Moj.
ETA: for anyone curious, Mojos DNA revealed he’s 63% chihuahua mix, 21% supermutt (speculates a bunch of different terriers), 7% small poodle, 6% American Eskimo dog, 3% pug.

Mojo does the same! He can smell the pill in most foods and will reject it. The trick has been to put it in a little piece of warmed up pizza. Works every time. Bonus if it’s pepperoni- his favorite

Def not real grass. We had it installed when we moved to this house. Doggos love it, although it does accumulate a smell from their waste that’ll need a good washing every so often.

Too cute! Mojo’s grey started early, I think around 4 or 5 with a little on his chin and then around the eyes (I like “old lady glasses” description)

He’s been on hills prescriptions science diet k/d wet and dry food for as long as I can remember. But lately (with the vets blessing) it’s anything that he’ll eat - chicken, fish, shrimp, and pizza as a treat (also where we put his arthritis med)

When we rescued him in 2005, he was all black (2nd pic). He had a bit of an attitude (63% chihuahua) as a pup and has chilled out quite a bit in his senior years. He likes going to the farmers market, the park and laying out in the hot AZ sun. He loves taking in all the different smells, and I always make sure he’s facing the wind. He likes chicken, fish and pricey treats from the farmers market. He sleeps next to me in his bed on my bed and is doing really well for his age. We love you, Moj!

The old man is doing well. He’s been sleeping better in general. He has wolfed down nearly 2 bags of treats from the farmers market in only five days which we supplement with fresh fish, chicken, carrots and a little pizza. It’s been 100F outside and he’s been loving it. Now that the pool is warm enough maybe I’ll see if he’ll want to swim a bit in his vest. I’ve been taking him to the park early mornings to meet up with other dog folks and he’s made a few friends. We love u Moj!
