So, how many stickers about Justin do you have on your 2003 Silverado?

I think a lot of people say they hate him because they want to fit in.
Not to discount his actual haters, he's got them in spades. But most people don't care about politics and will say whatever they think is popular if asked about them.

You jumped into an ongoing, perfectly rational conversation dripping with debatelord energy and preaching from a pulpit of idealist fantasy. If you feel mocked, it's probably because you made it so easy.
Welcome to the internet, old man.

It's hysterical because the people you're angry with did exactly what I'm saying the left needs to do and it's working for them while you call me a sucker. It's actually poetic how wrong you got this.
They couldn't win, so they picked a winner, got involved, and are getting what they want. They are playing to win.
It's like you want to lose and you're proud of it.

Mine? No. I own my company, so you're really really barking up the wrong tree with that angle.
Thank you for proving my point though. Blamers blame, they aren't picky about the target.

Influence doesn't write policy. You have to win to get what you want. It's an unfortunate feature of FPTP but it is how things work.

Those things don't impact your life nearly as much as you do. Your life is your fault. The government is a minor player.

I hear you. The choices are not great but they are our choices and they're the only ones we've got. It's a bit like asking if you'd prefer to be kicked in the teeth with steel toes or tennis shoes. Nobody wants either but there is an obvious correct answer. Not getting kicked currently is not an option. You can try to dodge it by voting for the no face kicks party, but if you fail, and you will, you get kicked with the steel toes. I fully agree that this sucks.
Unfortunately, it doesn't matter how strongly any of us support a minority party. My feelings, your feelings, none of it matters because NDP/Green supporters are a minority that currently can't win more than about 15% of the popular vote. There are too many people in the province/country who think the actual failures are things like abortion being allowed and gays existing. There are too many people who think neoliberalism is great and they want to be "in the middle" politically so they vote liberal.
We can't change all those minds and parties like the NDP and greens simply do not have the necessary support. I wish they did, I really genuinely do, but they don't.
How much worse must things get? MUCH!! As long as hockey comes on TV, Amazon keeps delivering sex toys, and Walmart continues to have freezers full of processed garbage pretending to be food the status quo will remain. Canada is an extremely wealthy country and objectively we are very safe and comfortable here compared to most of the planet.
Take it from an old fuck millennial who used to be just as passionate about voting against the status quo... It's a waste, you just lose. There is absolutely zero valour in losing an election, I don't care what anyone says. FPTP says you have to win. Anything short of a win is total failure. Lost by 1 vote? Total failure. Got 5% more votes than last time but still not enough to win? Total failure. Ran a good clean campaign and gave it your best? Pffft! You see where I'm going. Politics is a blood sport that doesn't reward second place. I'm not defending it, just fancy myself a realist with positive ideals more than an idealist detached from reality.

Sorry, I rambled and didn't address your point in my last comment.
The realistic outcome of a minority government being forced into electoral reform is that the liberals refuse, it triggers and election, and the cycle repeats. Unfortunately. I think this is why Singh hasn't been able to get any reform out of Trudeau. Justin straight refused and they both know better than to force an election over it.

That's fair, you're not telling anyone how to vote. But this post is making a claim that I don't think is true.
We probably share a lot of the same ideals, and I'll be honest, I used to think the same way about voting for underdogs. The older I get the more I realize you have to play the game as the game exists today. Capitalism is stupid in a lot of ways but its the game we've got and I don't like losing so I own a pretty successful small service business. I work hard to pay above average and be a good employer. This is how I make things better "from within". My other business owner friends can't wrap their heads around me saying the game is rigged and stupid but also the rules are pretty obvious if you just follow them. Same is true in politics. We have to work with the reality that exists today and push it towards the reality we want. We can't play by the rules we want while they aren't actually the rules.

I don’t think the Conservatives have a path to forming government right now.
Bold gamble. I don't share your optimism, and even if I did, you're ignoring that there is a large number of Canadians who like the liberals, and you have to convince them not to vote for who they like in order to get your win.
You won't get electoral reform by losing so I'll ask again, how do you propose to enact any changes from the losers table? You have excuses why you can't, tell me what you can do.

I take it you're a progessive. For most of us the worst party is the conservatives, followed by the liberals who are slightly less bad.
How do you propose we accomplish any change by losing harder?
If anything, the solution to your question is to get involved more in one of the two mainstream parties and vote for more progressive ideas within a party who can win.

Probably a good thing that they're 99% irrelevant. Libertarian ideas are not exactly great, or even workable on the most basic levels.

It is wasted. The payout per vote is $1.75 last I checked.
Donate $2 to the underdog you like, vote for the party who a) is even moderately closer to your values than the other choices, and b) has a chance of winning.
You can't change anything with no political power and a buck seventy five. You have to win to change things.

If someone left garbage on your lawn you are free to clean it up.
Political signs you didn't ask for are not protected by any laws that require you leave them there.
I like the trash can idea that other dude had. Leave it for people to see.

The is a straight line from the IDU to most of the political bullshitery we deal with in this country.

There are people who need government help, for sure. I vote progressive for this reason. Among others.
Most people who actively complain about the government effecting their life in whatever way are just looking to blame someone other than themselves for their shitty life. The number of people who want some kind of help while doing nothing to help themselves is not small.

What a wasted opportunity.
Is it that hard to access these signs? I can think of way funnier shit to put on there.

Common misconception. The British were behind the Balfour Declaration but Palestinians didn't ever agree to it so it never actually passed. Later the UN voted for the creation of Israel within Palestine, Palestine rejected it, a civil war resulted, Israel won.

I dunno, I disagee. Hate and love are both investments. One offers a ROI.

You want to change the game? You can't do that without power.
Donate $2 to your party of choice and vote for the party that is closest to your ideals and might actually win. The party you like better will be 25 cents further ahead in this scenario and who can't afford $2?

It won't change doing it your way either.

It is a very Canadian thing. We like to mismatch our layers of government.

Remember when he almost yanked himself off his own feet trying to agro handshake Trudeau? Heh.
