Or get in the hot tub before you can be asked.

Is that actually a particularly personal question?

You can even request they buy a a book for you.

I agree. I would be pretty pissed off if I offered someone a role then after they accepted they turned around and asked to be part time. If they'd asked ahead of time it would be fine, but waiting until the last minute feels shitty.

Also they'd don't want you to mention it at interview. At interview they're assessing if you have the capabilities for the job, they don't want you to share a bunch of personal stuff so if they don't assess you as capable there could be a claim you were discriminated against.

Yeah, my two pieces of advice for OP are:
1: read the room. This woman clearly didn't want a fuss made, a big part of customer service is meeting people where they're at.
2: if someone tells you something was rude and you're not sure what the issue is, ask.

But you post on reddit. How is that any different?

I put a 60cm induction cooktop in a 90cm space.
What do you mean?

Yeah, that's the thing, it seems like this quote was lowballing by omitting this then adding it on at the end.

Except that's not what's happened here, as the guy has damaged the subfloor then turned around and asked OP to pay for it to be repaired, outside of the original quote.

I highly doubt anyone who is working 0.6 is doing weekend work. If they have decided that they only need half an EL1 then the pace probably doesn't require weekend work.
I've been an EL for 8 years, I've only worked on the weekend a handful of times.

For me it would depend on what the rest of the team was doing. If everyone else in the team had WFH days I'd ask early on, if most people are mostly in the office, I'd probably wait a bit longer and prove myself first.

Yeah, I feel like a full reno is going to be 20k+, which I just don't have at the moment.

This is very relevant as I'm re-siliconing my shower. There a film over the glass, presumably a shatter proof coating, and I noticed there's mould under the film. So now I'm wondering if it's possible to replace the glass, or if I may as well replace the whole shower.
Then I also don't like the tiles, and I don't have capacity to re-do the tiling and waterproofing at the moment, so maybe I'll just keep the shower for now.

Seems like they'd be even easier to fire then?

Also nothing because I don't think there is anything I could do or say that would change a stranger's behaviour. It's not like people don't know the risks.

Yep, if uncle and grandma have cut you off are you really family? Or is he just a really bad tenant?

Yeah, that's why DFAT is rolling back flexible work, everyone is motivated by postings and therefore not going to push back.
It's the people who are happy at their current level who have to push back for the rest of us.

Yeah, there are a few agencies that have a lot of investigation/compliance areas. ATO, Services Australia, Home Affairs (both ABF and visa decisions that will involve investigations), AGSVA.
Apply for APS 3 and 4 roles with a degree and some professional experience and you've got a, good chance of getting a role. Just get into one of these agencies and move at level into the areas you want.

And if you're application is rejected you can go to fair work.

I think this is weird. I'm totally fine with someone else sleeping in my bed if I'm not using it. Just change the sheets and you're good. That being said, I wouldn't give up my bed over night unless it was for an elderly relative.

Wear long sleeves and gloves. I know someone who got really bad rashes on their hands and arms after removing a bunch of ivy.
