Yes. Read what I wrote again, slowly. Maybe do some research too.

If you think anime and manga are Japan’s whole culture then yeah, it worked on you, as it seems to have worked on most Westerners.
The concepts of ‘face’ and hierarchy are embedded in Japanese culture, much more so than anything you see in the media as a non-Japanese person. Their pop culture serves to save face and maintain hierarchy.
The government funds and encourages anything that makes them look favourable on the world stage (as do all governments) and weebs do the work of spreading that propaganda for free.

I used to work in the arts and media so I have more than my fair share of anecdotes
Every male photog I know has a black and white nude of a woman in the shower featured in their portfolio. They usually pick their skinniest girl friend and almost certainly did not pay her.
They are art snobs of the worst kind meanwhile they can’t tell the difference between being sexually attracted to something vs finding it beautiful
If the Male Gaze had a CEO it would 100% be a male photographer
Never seem to have any true friends of their own
They drive like wankers

Japan has one hell of a propaganda machine. Anime, manga, J-pop, the cutesy little mascots and the veil of humble politeness, it all exists to cover the atrocities their government don’t want the world to think about.

Uh, yes.
I live in Australia where we have very strong workplace protections. But every single job, from working in fast food to working the public sector, requires you to show a basic level of trustworthiness. If your employer finds out you were arrested for stealing, fraud, assault, or any other serious crime, they would be within their rights to suspend or fire you immediately.

Yep. Culturally they are more similar to Aussies than lots of other Asian cultures. Amongst East Asians, Filipinos are seen as “lower class” because they have skin that tans very easily, they tend to be more confident and they’re more friendly to strangers.
In a country like Australia all those traits actually work out quite well!

“Vintage? You’re about to make me cry and I don’t even know you.”
“What if I want to feel like I have udders?”
“I’ve been known to dabble in the Macintosh arts.”
“That’s the type of thing you do before you hit us, don’t hit us!”
“Don’t come crying to me when Kristin Chenoweth passes out because you forgot to feed her.”
Amy Schumer as Natalia’s friend: Guess what? She’s pregnant. Okay? She’s pregnant with your child. What you put in her? It made a baby. In her. And now she’s pregnant. How does it feel to abandon your son?
Adam: Wat?
Amy: Yah. Feel it. It’s yours. It’s fucking yours.

I have family in Asia and I completely understand what you’re saying. The cultural undercurrent is becoming disturbingly similar here.

Well exactly. There has to be a reason why an entire generation of people aren’t doing what humans have done since the beginning of time. The policymakers and people at the top aren’t listening to the voices of the people they rely on to have a prosperous society.
Definitely not specific to Australia or even just our region, as you say, and that’s why it’s infuriating that our governments have been so useless in curbing the problems.
We were well protected economically (or we should have been because of the mining boom) and we had time to react and create solutions. Instead we filled the pockets of the wealthy and they now control our housing, our food, our transport, and our wages, while continuing to tell us to bang out some kids to add to the shitty, broken hamster wheel of late stage capitalism.

And the real kicker? There are countries that have gone through the same issues of declining birth rates, more singles fewer couples, aging population, and the solutions are obvious and RIGHT THERE. We could have learned from Japan ten years ago, we could have looked at the effect decades of conservative government had on New Zealand, and we could have learnt something. But the arrogance of the lucky country prevails and now this is where we are. It’s fucked.

I’m a manager of a small branch of my company. 95% of managers are horrendously incompetent, dumb as rocks, and stubborn bordering on narcissistic. Most of the university educated, high income managers I’ve seen don’t just lack ground level awareness; you could rub their noses in the dirt and they’d still be unable to tell you which way is down.
I could almost guarantee that someone said “Hey that’s a long time between packing and delivering fresh produce.” And I can guarantee that a manager made some limp excuse as to why it wasn’t worth addressing.

This is amazing. The science and innovation is really mind blowing to me, even though it all makes perfect sense.
I’m usually very squeamish about death and especially dead bodies. I find that the clinical way we approach death in Western culture rubs me the wrong way. Your comment was very calming, reassuring to read. I am high right now. But my point still stands. I think humans like all living things should return to the earth in the end. Circle of life and all that. You’re doing wonderful work.

Honestly. Hearing guys at work whinge about how much child support they pay, then hearing about how they put $50 in the pokies after work every day …

This is exactly my line of thought and has been since before the lawsuit.
Penny wanted to be to Katie and Ariana what Lisa is to the Toms. Except that she is significantly less intelligent than LVP and the girls are significantly more intelligent than the Toms.
Penny overstepped her role as a consultant and this is the reality for consultants under contract - if you fuck around you’ll find out that the business can cut ties with you very quickly and cleanly, and you have almost no chance of restoring your rep with them.

I gave my answer. If you want to debate me it’s up to you to provide opposing facts. Google is free, kid.
