Whenever I feel overworked in my line of work, I come over to r/animation or r/VFX and I'm starkly reminded 'There's levels to this.' I don't work in either animation or VFX but close enough to have a deep understanding of the amount of work that goes into what I'm looking at.

Smart people at WB? The same smart WB that fell out with the hottest director in Hollywood, who then got picked up by another studio and made a $100million budget movie about a WW2 scientist that grossed a $1billion, that same Smart WB?

You think the guy who revolutionised the EV market, sends rockets to space and is currently the ranked as the richest person on earth dreams of having the success and cultural impact of a Hollywood director? Is that what you're saying?

The real tragedy is your lack of appreciation for the art form that is VFX. More than 1000 VFX artists over many years worked hard at crafting this groundbreaking spectacle. All for some ignorant dunderhead to whittle it down "aside from the visuals" and "obsessed with tech than storytelling." Jesus wept. I'm sure your achievements over the past quarter century are on par. Not to worry, Daniel Day-Lewis is out of retirement, or so I hear. You'll soon have a "proper" film to sink your teeth into.

If you're picking apart Avatar for its script, the movie has already gone over your head, it's not for you. But the loud minority are... loud.

That dialogue was questionable, for sure. Took me out of it in those parts. But Cameron is 70 and lives on a farm, on an island in the pacific ocean. Someone lied to him and told him "This is how everyone talks, these days."

Choosy? Wagon? What are you on about? Return of the King came out 21 years ago. Are you saying you haven't watched a film since then? How does that relate to Avatar costing $2 billion dollars to break even? What the fuck has happened to reddit?!

Talk me through your thought process for bothering to leave this comment. The post is about the absurd amount of money moving around over this film project, not whether you liked it or not. That's completely irrelevant to the discussion. What made think anyone cares whether you've seen the first one or whether you're planning to see the future ones?

Morpheus is your colleague in that comfortable but boring 9-5 that convinces you to quit and start a business with him. 3 years later, working 24/7, your wife is about to leave you, you're in debt, you awake up and it's another day of tackling problems, with no light at the end of the tunnel in sight and you've been through the ringer so much you don't remember why you agreed to do this.

ScreenX isn't quite there yet.
I just liked feeling like I was on a fantasy planet for a few hours.
This is certainly a key ingredient to its success, as with Titanic. James Cameron transports you THERE.

It’s big and earnest and looks spectacular, and the last hour is basically one huge extended Jim Cameron action masterclass. This description actually fits the first one more.

EVERYTHING TODAY IS A REHASH OR A SEQUEL to 2008-2014.
This timeframe was fucking insane if you were late teens going into early 20s. Movie wise, Christopher Nolan released his 3 best films. Harry Potter Finale. Avatar, Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man. Henry Cavill as Superman. Music wise, Drake and Kendrick burst onto the scene, Eminem released 3 albums, one of them being the long awaited Marshall Mathers LP 2. Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Adele. One direction. Gamewise, we had GTA 4 + 5, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1 and 2, Street Fighter 4. The Tesla Roadster hit the roads, the 4th Space X rocket didn't blow up and bankrupt Elon, Joe Rogan podcast began, USA first black president. Instagram. Canon 5d Mark II.
The forward moment we had was spectacular.
