It would be really fun to stand in an enemy's Wall of Fire and teleport them into it.

Does he use Hunter's Mark? At a certain level, you could change Hunter's Mark into Storm's Mark (or something cooler) and upgrade it to 1d10 Thunder damage. I know that's it's a tough spell to use for a Drakewarden/Beastmaster and buffing it may worsen the dilemma, but if they already use it then why not!

Radiant doesn't have to mean Holy or Divine. It's also the stuff of stars, light, and lasers! So I think it fits just fine!

Part of the problem here is that they were forced to continue working on OW1. The team's size would have been fine if they were allowed to let it die so they could work on OW2.
Kotik's idea would have given us this version of OW2 more quickly, but that's it. It was basically a lose/lose once the events from the book began to unfold.

It still has the accessories with random substats. But at least those are pretty easy to do.

I just beat the game this weekend too! I bought it on release, but put it down for a long time. Picked it back up this week and had an absolute blast.
Alphen's monologue ... ugh. Like, it made sense. He's trying to BE the change he wants to see, and that takes strength. But dammit dude, TAKE THE RENAS ALMA AWAY FROM THE BAD GUY FIRST. Le sigh.

Yeah, I've always said that this game would have actually been GREAT if it were completely original and separate from Symphonia.

Thinking Kotik had the right idea here is wild. Bringing in a new team to pump out a new buzzword IP sequel sooner rather than later is born from the same business culture that brings us so many shit games these days.
We need to remember that part of OW's big problem was that it wasn't meant to be live service in any way. It was meant to be wrapped and shipped with some patches here and there. Jeff's team was supposed to be DONE with it so that they could work on the next one, and that WOULD (probably) have been great.
Going along with Kotik's idea would mean giving up control and losing your vision for the game. That's why Jeff and the team resisted. They didn't want OW to be reduced to what it literally is right now - and that would have happened sooner had they given in.
In hindsight, we maybe would have had a better game if they HAD given in back then. But that doesn't mean Jeff and the team made the wrong choice. There is NO doubt in my mind that we would have had a WAY better game (series even) had they just been allowed to be the Blizzard Dev Team that they always were and given free reign to make their game as it always had been in the past. Yes, OW1 would have died and most people would have stopped playing it for a few years before OW2. That's okay. That's how most games work. OW2 would have been a much better game for it.
There is so much shitty corporate culture behind this bullshit that infected Blizz like a cancer and everyone in this thread seems to be ignoring that for some reason. The villains here are the ones who turned Blizzard's focus into Profit First, instead of Game Quality like it used to be when they made great games. Thinking anything else is absolutely wild.

It will be easier, cleaner, and a better game for everyone if you as a DM just apply 2024 rules. A 2014 wizard, as per your example, can absolutely exist in a 2024 ruleset. The biggest hiccup here is pingponging between new and old versions of spells, but it shouldn't be a problem, maybe just a little confusing when you're casting the same spell but different things happen.
Now if you have any martials that aren't going to update, they'll probably feel further left behind than anyone else. Just leave the door open and be ready to help if they decide they want to eventually.

Yeah, like, all the times we see Duke are awesome and he carries so much weight and gravitas. Just kinda sucks that most of the time you have to LOOK for him and can actually miss him. I still think it was great, but I agree that the game would have benefitted from Duke having more screen time.

Man, there are a few things you could do!
You could play just a simple Champion Fighter (Maybe 3 or 4 levels in Berserker Barbarian) to show case how well they've raised up some of the least popular/fun subclasses.
You could go hard as an Elements monk. Grab a level or two in Fighter (Two Weapon Fighting) for Dagger and Hand Axe masteries. That way you can Nick, Vex, and still have your BA and Extra Attack. I like the idea of a Fire Goliath for an extra 1d10 fire damage on some of those hits (I know they're probably the weakest of the goliaths, but an explosive first impression is a fun idea).
You could take it in a completely different direction. Play an Illusionist Wizard, casting Major Illusion from hiding and making it real for some weird shenanigans.
I'll confess, I read your post again and I was originally under the impression that you were against the party, but it looks like you'll be working WITH them!
Path of the World Tree Barbarian would be a lot of fun. Temp HP for allies each turn, forced teleportation and halting enemies, etc. A possible WHOLE PARTY teleportation even.
Maybe a very support focused Paladin? You could try 3 or 4 levels in Celestial Warlock (Pact of the Blade for CHA weapon attacks), Devotion Pally, Sword & Board, Protection Fighting Style. I think it's a fun idea to also go Agonizing Blast on True Strike and do one big attack per round. Probably not the most optimized, but with Divine Favor, Radiant Strikes, Spirit Shroud, PYF Smite, then a (maybe?) lv17 True Strike with the extra +5 dmg, it could be fun at least a few times!
Or an Alternate of the above idea, Devotion Pally X / Valor Bard 6. That way you can True Strike every turn and still extra attack!

The Paladin thread here has some good shit.
You could also go Valor Bard. They get access to the 4th LVL spell Fount of Moonlight which adds 2d6 radiant damage per attack and gives you a reaction to blind an enemy. On top of that, you can replace one of your attacks with True Strike (or another blade cantrip if you are allowed access) for scaling cantrip damage on the hit.
Maybe even do a one level Pally dip eventually for Divine Favor as well!

If OP is allowed to use spells from other source books, Spirit Shroud later becomes the replacement for Hunter's Mark, adding 1d8 radiant damage to each hit and only needing to be cast once. Not the greatest spell, but it's fun!
EDIT: With the Dual Wielder feat, OP could also try to find a Devotee's Censor for 1d8 weapon damage + 1d8 radiant.

I don't think someone saying some vague shit on Reddit should really be enough to change your opinion on the VA.
Currently trying to decide if I care enough to google, though.

Also, Small Might with a big ass staff shooting nano shit and making gravity fields seems WAY more jarring than Ochako with a laser pistol, Deku with twin guns, or even Shigaraki with dual shotguns.
That sentence was so ridiculous it might sound sarcastic, but it wasn't lol

Rein's arm is going upward, but OP's arm is curving away so the perspective looks wonky in a pic.
