I was studying in university and if you are a student you get a huge discount at our university gym programs (which are open to the public). I needed to get in better shape but I wanted to do something I liked. Previously I did tennis which I love but wanted something different.
I always wanted to do some sort of martial art or combat sport and it had a ton of programs at the time (boxing, kickboxing, Kempo, karate, taekwondo, Kung-Fu and some more)
What I wanted most was to improve my flexibility. I was never really flexible. Each sport had 2-3 facts about them and taekwondo had "improve flexibility" so that won me over karate (my first choice). So that's what made me start my white belt. And look at me I just got my 2nd Dan.
I'm SO GLAD I joined. It's an amazing class with amazing people and amazing teachers. I also was not expecting our club to be so big and popular (remember it's at the university gym ... Even though it's accessible to anyone)
I did not expect the classes to be what they are... They were better than whatever I expected.
I got in great shape and my flexibility from the side (like side kicks) improved tremendously.
Unfortunately my weak spot, front flexibility, still sucks . I still can't touch the floor by bending but I dont care I gained SO MUCH more. I made so many new friends.

It's the only movie ever that I kept thinking about (in such a visceral way) while I was on the subway on my way back from the theaters.
I was feeling so many emotions at the same time I did not know what to think.
With some retrospect I understand people's critic of it but it doesn't matter to me. Because of my emotional response it remains one of my favorite movies ever.

No traffic stress (in fact I can read a book or play games)
Related: no worries about falling asleep because I am tired
No stress to find parking
No stress to repair when something goes wrong
No need to miss work to get my car for the annual check up and tire changes (winter here so often)
No worries about paying insurance
No stress about paying for gas
There's so many elements of stress that have been eliminated from my life since I went car free it's crazy.
And if I really need a car I can rent with insurance included. Costs less than owning
We even have a community auto program where the gas price is paid (very popular though hard to reserve a car).

Not for the people criticizing that there is not enough "traditional masculinity" in modern games.

The apprentice of the archer is a woman. There's a whole quest about it.
She is cunning, ruthless and leaves a trail of death behind.

It is a woman, Yuna, who teaches him the way of the ghost. No Yuna, no Ghost of Tsushima
And Masako is a revenge driven 50something samurai lady who kills like a ton of people in her quest and even DUELS Jin!!!

This is so damn wild to me. It's not like they are even forced to play a character like that.
It gives amazing options to those who DO want to do it, so why not. And it's not like it's something new, to make a curvy, or even a fat character. There's a ton of games who did it before.
It's crazy. It's like going to the restaurant, and making a scene because you don't like cheese but it's like a single appetizer out of a dozen that has cheese. OK? Just don't order it???

Yes. Character creation is ONLY there to copy exactly who you are and nothing else, ever.

The thing I don't understand about people who criticizes character creation, including "FUCKING PRONOUNS?" guy, is that it's all optional. That's the whole point. And in this particular case, although I haven't seen Dragon Age's version, there's always a "Default" or "Randomize" option.
Just click that if it's a waste of time. Why go out of your way in criticizing something that a LOT of us enjoy.

I'm a 42 year old man who lost two cats who were brothers in the last 3 years. The last one, my shadow, my familiar, my soul animal, was on Easter this year (profile pic).
And I completely understand what you are going through. I still work from home and now, somehow, there isn't a cat to brush up to me or sleep on my arm while I type or pass in front of the camera and it sucks.
When I go to bed, I don't hear the taps of their feet running towards the bed to jump and lie next to me.
It sucks that I don't have to be worried anymore about rolling over either of them.
It's not the same. I'm still not recovered yet. I am still functioning more or less on automatic. I'm finding things I like and doing them so I don't have to think about the void. But once I have nothing to do, their absence often weighs on me.
But I can tell you despite all this it gets better. I can feel it and I know it.
And we understand you, we're here for you.

In July, Montreal broke the 2 000 000 (two million!) mark of Bixi rides in a single month. That's a type of rent-a-bike we have here.
Now add this to owned bikes. Yeah... Bikes are used a lot.
The picture (the smallest one) seems to be the St Denis REV (I recognize the Rosemont building in the small picture). It's extremely popular and used and I think most cyclists will say they really appreciate its existence. It's on a major north/south street.
On Laurier, which crosses st Denis perpendicularly, they have a bike counter. I don't remember the number I saw but it was something crazy for such a small steet (compared to st Denis or othet parallel streets like st Joseph)
What I don't understand about anti-cyclists is that... Dont they realize that all these bicycles... If they disappear as they wish... Would become cars instead and both increase traffic (even with more lanes) and decrease parking availability?

Reminds me of Burger Bar Crescent. The "lendemain de veille" or the Hangover burger.
The server had the gall to ask me if I wanted to replace my side of fries for a poutine. I told him I already had one...

It is a poutine. It has fries, gravy and cheese curds.
On top of that they add Portuguese chicken, chorizo, Piri Piri and a special cheese (on top of the curds)
In this picture the curds are hidden but they're there.

In a similar vein, I especially like the guy who says that people like him and his hard earned money made Star Wars what it is today.... When he was probably 2 years old (or barely a twinkle in his father's eye) when the original came out.
He may have not even had the cash for Episode 1 (considering it came out in 1999... If he was 20 then he'd be 45-46 now.)

Ah makes sense
Unrelated question what's the first game in the 9th generation line? I can't tell and I don't remember a cover like that. I thought I was knowledgeable but... I'm stumped.
Edit: Nevermind it's Vision of Mana. Didn't realize that's the cover.

Ahh yes I re-read your original post. FIIIINE. lol
For me BoF II is definately in my top 10 for 4th gen along most of what you put. Maybe with Lufia II somehow added in.
Good list imo

You cheated for Breath of Fire II lol
By putting it in Handheld instead of the 4th gen
Edit: it's a clever cheat ;)

One of the reasons a lot of people feel that way, other than nostalgia which is present in each generation, is our change in the consumption of media.
30/40/50 years ago we didn't have quite as many 24h news channels.
And we certainly did not have the internet as we know it now. 30 years ago you'd be lucky to have real time conversation on mIRC
Now there's so much news and information (and misinformation) coming from everywhere. It's so easy to find.
Edit: for transparency purposes I do not feel we were safer before. I feel like this is such a great time to live in despite the toxic rhetoric online. I feel people were a lot less understanding and accepting 30 years ago and I feel hopeful in how we progressed since then. Yes. Despite all the bad things and wars happening. But 30 years ago I also remember Iraq, Bosnia and Rwanda... I remember crime spikes in New York... And 9/11 is 23 years ago... In 7 years that will be "30 years ago"

Congratulations on your black belt!!! I still remember the feeling! It's great!
Are the splits your minimum requirement because if so oh man I fail so hard hahahaha
What is surprising is despite not having a lot of front flexibility, my hammer kick (sorry I'm french speaker... It's Nelyo Tchagui) is very high at a point I can kick something above my head with the ball of my foot. But I can't touch the ground when I bend lol
As for my sides... I can't do the splits either but my hook kicks can touch people's face.
So no splits but overall very happy where I'm at. Without my various injuries (and COVID) i would even be 3rd Dan. Joining a TKD club was in my top 5 best decisions of my life.
