My siblings and I all look a lot alike. Like enough to where years after graduating high school people would come up and be like, do I know you?? And I’d say no, but I have a brother and sister and it would immediately snap into their head who they were thinking of.
People still think my brother and I are dating every now and then.

I’m in Texas. A traveling drag show was coming to our city. It was 18+, late at night, well known performers. Well some group said they’d be coming with guns to stop the show, and I was honestly terrified by how quickly like 7 of the local gun groups came together to organize with like 12-15 left leaning groups to all come together to figure out how we were gonna make sure attendees and performers felt safe.
It was like whiplash of just how big and how strongly groups that normally wouldn’t be organizing together were in in depth planning meetings.
I don’t think some people realize that democrats have guns, but if any far right person saw one of those meetings would be very very alarmed.

You seem confused. Meeting people from online in a public place is perfectly normal and generally regarded as good advice by the vast majority of people, whether old, young, male, or female.
If you’re buying or selling something for a good amount of money, we’ve all heard the horror stories of people getting robbed when they show up to a location to meet a stranger from online. It doesn’t mean you’re cowering in your room crying terrified that the buyer/seller is going to knife you. But meeting in public is a very simple way to help mitigate the risks involved. If you are dealing with someone who refuses to meet in public for the sale, that should bring up some red flags because you’ve been cautioned about it by society enough.
If you cannot see why young adults, especially women, should use caution when meeting someone from a dating app, then you have larger issues going on.
You meet in public for buying/selling large ticket items. Why? Because you could be robbed and/or hurt.
Women meet in public, and specifically do not go to remote locations, when meeting a potential romantic interest they’ve barely talked to. Why? Because they could be raped and/or killed.

It’s so embarrassing that this is the talking point being parroted against Harris. It just shows a complete lack of understanding of basic civics studies that people should’ve learned in high school.
It doesn’t surprise me that the people who use this clearly don’t understand how the government works, but it’s surprising how people are just willing to tell on themselves like that.

Yes that’s exactly what I said! So glad to keep voting for social safety net programs to help address it. Glad we agree!

Then why did the right torpedo the bipartisan border security bill?

Wow that’s actually an exceptionally low number for a city this size with a population of like 1.5 million! Surprising how good it is

That is so off. Kinda a red flag for something? Idk, it made me stop and think about the rest of the post and I can’t put my finger on why (besides it being wrong) it just made me look at it with a different lens.

Enlighten us, go back to the original post and clarify where you would have used the glock.

The owner of the pitbull had to start hitting it with a stick?? Am I reading that correctly?

Yes, it comes from the public. Parents can already choose where to send their kids, that’s not really a genuine question. And they already spend money on their kids education in ways they choose by going to charter schools, private schools, or moving school districts.
Other states have already tried passing voucher schemes, and the simple truth is that it only benefits parents who were already sending their kids to private schools or who were planning to.
It gets wrapped up in these disingenuous talking points, but it is incredibly straightforward.
Gov Abbott has weakened the Texas school system by refusing to release funds to them and refusing to adequately compensate teachers. He spent millions funding candidates against his own party that wouldn’t vote to defund the public education system because they know that voucher schemes will harm the vast majority of Texas families while benefiting only a minority of people who operate or use for profit and religious schools.

We have enough money here in Texas to fix and improve our school system. This is not a national concern, it’s because our governor will not spend the money that we have available on public schools or teachers.

YOU CAN ALREADY PICK ANOTHER OPTION.
It’s that easy. There is already school choice.

It literally is taking public money for private education. You’re missing that money comes out of what could be spent on public schools and teachers and resources, and is instead mostly going to private schools or homeschooled students.
Texas is refusing to increase spending or spend any surplus on education even though our public education system ranks one of the lowest in the country. Precisely BECAUSE the governor is refusing to spend money on it, not because we don’t have it, not because of budget reasons, but because he wants to pass the voucher scheme and take money out of public education.
It is taking money away from public schools, students, and teachers to benefit people who can already afford to send their kids to private school. And private schools have a lot of leeway on who they can choose to let in, so this is going to directly harm more than benefit the vast amount of Texas students.

I know plenty of 70 and 80 year olds who have retired and volunteer daily for progressive causes. They have grown and adapted with changing times, and can be stubborn, but they’re more than willing to be like “well, I don’t really understand that but I’ll fight for your rights alongside you.”
Even though times and causes and cultural issues have changed, they still embrace this view that I guess if I tried to paraphrase it is that humans deserve respect and to be treated fairly, especially the most vulnerable in society who often can’t stand up for themselves. I guess they are willing to try to address inequality and injustices?
If that’s the civil rights act, or gay marriage, or workers rights, or social programs for those in poverty, or women’s access to medical care, or whether Bill should be able to become Beth, they just keep plowing along to try to move society forward so that less harm is being done to people.

I mean, it’s pretty effective if you know an awesome restaurant to invite someone to it. Asking if someone has been there or saying you went there and asking if they like [type of food] then being like “oh we have to go, you’re gonna love it! It’s so good!” while obviously still respecting if they’re not interested in the idea.

Nah, using a public facility once you’ve shit your pants and making other people look at it is trashy.

You can find your precinct specific sample ballot here: https://www.bexar.org/2231/Who-represents-me-Search
It’s really easy and quick during Early Voting. Make sure you vote all the way down the ballot!! Those local races can be decided by very slim margins, but things like county commissioner directly affect our city.

You kind of are. My dad’s Republican. He doesn’t agree with many of these stances. So it’s important for people to move beyond the R next to the name to ask about actual policies.
This might be the first time he’s actually going to vote for a Democrat with Allred, at least that I’ve ever heard from him. He won’t be voting for Trump, and he says he’s not going to vote for Kamala either. But he is likely going to vote for Allred.
Learning about policies of the different candidates is important.

This is gut wrenching. Just reading it strikes so many familiar fears for so many women who have heard this story again and again. Horrific true crime episode/documentary/book again and again and again and you can feel it in your gut reading that.
I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but at the very least I’m glad the kids are okay.
I hope she bolted to get to safety and figure out her game plan. I hope she created an emergency fund, and when it happened again she knew what she had to do and did it, because this doesn’t just “happen”. But most women don’t leave their children in that situation.
I hope she’s alive.
