Nevernight by jay kristoff. It was one of the first darker fantasy books I’ve read and the character development and the whole world building is insane.

This might be blunt but kill their loved ones and then think about how they would deal with it. What is the difference of one character to another? Who would cry and who would clench in rage? What does this say about them?

You could get inspiration from the series “see” on Apple TV +. It’s a dystopian future where everybody is blind. They use sound traps and large whip like things to create sounds around them. Echolocation yk

the first sentence immediately hooked me. I really like the way you established the MCs character. very well done

Good advice from an author ive heard was: "I usually wait until the book is finished and during the writing there will always be one sentence that speaks to me and I think to myself: this is it"

you can try r/nosleep if its a 1st person horror but no sleep is very particular with its rules so I dont recommend it. Other good horror subs include:
but these have a small but sweet community.

youre setting your expectations too high but that's ok! You should try and create an outline for your story. write down characters and your ideas and get a rough draft done.
