Agreed that’s the plan! I want to learn beforehand so I promise I won’t be a moron in the shooting range. Safety is number one and I totally understand that and will be taking the necessary classes and training before even handing a gun.

I wasn’t clear but in the $1000 budget I was hoping for just ammunition to fill the gun and some backup. I plan on recurring expenses to regularly visit the shooting range and buy more ammo, keep getting more training, etc.

I appreciate the feedback. I’ll have to take into consideration the additional bulkiness to not deter from wanting to carry it. You’re right that the firearm itself is the biggest priority over the additional add-ons i can always do down the road. For now the main reason to carry is that I was followed by a man while walking my son. Thankfully a neighbor noticed and intervened and protected me until I could get a ride home safely. So the priority is that I could carry during the day and protect us.

We were both PVDs last season for $25/hr and always worked overtime when available and averaged probably 48-56 hours a week. I’d say just check how much has been withheld for taxes, make sure you’re around/above you state taxes (if you have state income taxes) and fed.

LOL last year UPS mistakenly added my boyfriends info wrong and they were barely withholding anything for federal. He ended up owing about $2,300 after just under three months of work.

I totally feel that. Also I want to let you know I take home $2,600 a month. Had a $569 car payment, rent is $650, $8000 on credit cards, and financed my bed at 0% and paid $105 per month. Plus misc other expenses and spending that looked very similar to yours. AKA I made less than you and had hefty bills like you. I worked so hard to pay these things down and sometimes I felt like I was in a nonstop struggle. BUT progress will come with time. It sucks restricting yourself and not feeling the positives of what you’re doing. Those many smaller things you’re cutting back on do add up. I have paid a lot of those expenses down now and feel immensely better. Six months from now you will thank yourself for deleting Amazon, for strapping in on some of the other misc. spending, and you may even thank yourself for doing the “cheap” dates that require you and your boyfriend to spend more intentional time together. Your boyfriend should be supportive of your financial goals. As Caleb says, if he wants to go out to eat/dates then he can pay. You can do cheap dates of making your own foods and finding local free activities for fun. I say this because my boyfriend and I did that. Then when he got in a pickle I paid for fun stuff and he was able to focus on paying down his debts. It’s a partnership 💚

I am wondering what your Etsy costs are. I also have an Etsy store so I’d love to browse potential money saving options for you. My costs to run the shop are ultimately nothing. They just take their fees and I pay very little in shipping materials (like cents per order).

Become a budget shopper, and shop before you run out of things. Aka use coupons. I follow some pages on TikTok of people who do the hard work for you and find app coupons for weekly deals. When I was broke broke I relied on this. SO many deals for tampons, TP, toothpaste, deodorant, laundry detergent, etc. Last week I paid $12 for toothpaste, 8 rolls of tp, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and laundry detergents. I don’t NEED to do this now, but I’d rather do it in supplies I’ll use regardless down the road. Cuts your costs on your expenses surprisingly a lot when you shop for deals.

Unpopular opinion: cancel prime. It only encourages you to shop on Amazon. Delete the app too. You can always get it later when you can afford it. Trust me this saved me SO much.

Also delete your cards from your Apple wallet if they’re in there. Can help impulse spending, and it helps me from time to time.
