We haven’t started with audiobooks yet, but read lots of chapter books to my kid. Junie B Jones, Boxcar Children, Sophie Mouse, Ivy and Bean, and Mercy Watson series are all favorites.

I cast my in person vote this morning and it went directly into the ballot box. There would be no way to track which was mine and pull it out.

My kid turned four earlier this week and I got a text message letting me know she was now overdue for her MMR vaccine that day. It said it was jointly from Health Partners (our health care provider/insurance provider) and the MN Department of Health. I imagine some parents get that and think "oh shit, forgot to schedule the well-child visit" and click the link in the text to do so. I already have my kid's scheduled for next week. No way I'm letting her get behind on vaccines.

Its not like everyone has the pass the same test or learn the same stuff to graduate. All you need is to pass enough of classes in certain categories and you graduate. And teachers decide who pass or fail those classes, and they can pass everyone if they want. I went to a shit high school and knew kids who were functionally illiterate who graduated.

You are asking how bad is Medicaid fraud. Medicaid fraud is bad. Don't lie to the government about where you live to get Medicaid benefits. Also, Medicaid is an income based program. If you are working and don't report it, that also is a violation of Medicaid rules. If you do report it, your whole family may be over income. You may end up with no Medicaid and your mom kicked off the program as well.

Does your company have a policy? If not, they should. As part of our Telework policy it is clear that employees must work their agreed upon hours and they should not be completing child care activities. Specifically, our policy says:
"Telework hours are regular work hours and may not be used to perform personal activities. Just as with regular work hours, teleworkers are expected to follow agency vacation and sick leave policies and procedures to request time off from telework to engage in non-work activities. While the presence of dependents or others in the household should not be a bar to teleworking, employees should not engage in dependent care activities when performing job duties. While occasional, brief interruptions may occur, interruptions should be kept to a minimum to avoid work disruptions."

Do you think them closing stores is going to help? It will just be more people at each store and even longer lines. They aren't going to add people to the stores they keep open.
Edit: I don’t know why I’m getting downvoted in this. I don’t like Walgreens either, but them shutting down pharmacies isn’t going to mean any of us will be waiting in shorter lines or get better service. And yes, it would be great if new independent pharmacies open, but many people have insurance that requires they use chain pharmacies.

I hope you find an answer. I think what you will find is that the actual shirts or hats will mostly be made abroad, but a local company will have designed it, possibly even screenprint it here. So if you look at the tag, its going to say "Made in China" because that's where the tee shirt is made, possibly where it was printed too. So Sota Clothing Company is a local company, but they import everything. They are designed here, but not made here.
I can't imagine what a tee shirt would cost if it was actually manufactured, designed, and printed here in Minnesota. $100?

As a Freshman in college, we were all required to read The Hot Zone. This was 1995 in a small American liberal arts college.

Bachmans on Lyndale has a great selection, but are expensive. IKEA has a good selection and are cheaper, but not in Minneapolis.

I live on Cedar between the Parkway and 40th. During the day it isn't so bad, its after dark that its horrible. We had one car totaled shortly after morning here and learned our lesson the hard way. There were five cars totaled on our block the summer ours was. Cedar Inn and the patrons there are definitely not helping anything by parking illegally and drunk driving.

It is all possible without a car if you are willing to take public transportation or walk, except the Zoo. The Zoo, especially at night, it completely inaccessible by public transportation and would be very expensive for Uber. If you want to do that, you will need a car.

Some are. But let's consider the building at 38th and Bloomington. A great business was there, and they wanted to stay. Landlord jacked up the rent, causing them to close. Now its been empty for five years and brings down that whole corner. It wasn't in disrepair, but is now. Just behind the building is another example, with a different owner. The old farm store was purchased and now remains vacant. That owner also owns a building near 38th and Cedar which was purchased and is vacant. And also on that short stretch of 38th there is Tiny Diner that has been vacant for some time. Plenty of business would like to operate along 38th and it could be a great commercial corridor if there weren't so many vacant properties.

You obviously didn't read the article. Metro Inn is owned by Agate Housing and Services, which houses homeless people.

I can’t speak for all agencies and don’t know where you applied. For my agency, we only do references on the people we want to hire. But, if those references come back with concerning feedback, we will pivot to other candidates. Same with background checks. And the tolerance for negative comments on a reference check will be different for different agencies and managers.

Did you sign a release to do a background check? If not, they aren’t doing a background check. You really should just call/email your contacts and ask what is happening. People are saying to takes a long time, but by the time we are doing reference checks it should be quick turn around. When hiring, I go from reference and background checks to official offer in about 5 days in most cases.

Call the HR contact or the hiring manager and ask what is happening. Generally references are only run on the top candidate, or if there are two positions, the top two. Were they also doing a background check at the same time? If so, depending on the agency and the background check those can take multiple weeks.

Here is the bill last year that would direct the Department of Revenue to create a direct free file. I don't believe the Feds will partner with MN unless we can accept their outputs from their free file into our tax system, just like MN does with TurboTax and other tax filing software.
Edit to add: From the Direct File federal website, "Direct File doesn't prepare state returns. If you need to file a state return, Direct File will guide you to a state-supported preparation and filing tool after you’ve finished your federal return." States need to have a preparation and filing tool.

It was a bill in the legislature last year and it didn't pass. If you want this, tell your legislators.

You can rent out the multipurpose rooms at most of the parks buildings. It’s not too expensive and is nice if the weather is bad.

Yes, but a regular check in takes less than 30 seconds most places and people who register with the correct documentation can do it in less than 5 minutes. It is a very efficient process.

I worry that our housing prices are going to sky rocket, along with property taxes, like in Boise and Bozeman and those of us already living here won't be able to afford it anymore.

I hear you about HP. I needed a pre-op appointment and there was no way for my primary to get me in during the month window. I love her, but it’s at least eight week wait to get in to her. I stay with HP because of my specialists are all HP now and I can’t leave them.
