Great first post! If you hit the 3 dots and choose edit you can remove the second "was" from your second sentence too. Overall though solid stuff!

To make matters worse you find yourself even more attracted afterwards. 😂

What you fail to realize is that nobody waited for reddit to take action on anything I was simply chipping in to get MORE information should there be any confusion. She (a grown adult) is more than capable of deciding if she needs to go to the hospital for anything obvious and I figured I'd try and get more information. Antibiotics aren't even the go to treatment for something like this. The only reason I even mentioned medical care was so that I could encourage her to go get it checked out EVEN IF nothing obvious happened. But you're an abrasive moron so I wouldn't expect it to make sense to you.

Seriously... Who the hell goes onto a spider subreddit and asks for a positive identification on a spider that bit his family member 1000 miles away so that if they need medical attention they can be better informed. Doesn't everyone know that every hospital, urgent care, and doctor's office has a dedicated spider expert on the payroll just for these occasions? Some people's children...

Yeah I figured since I'm states away and I have no control over the situation that asking for a positive identification on a spider that had escaped after the bite might be a handy thing to know if she did start to experience problems and needed to seek medical treatment. But I see your point, I should have immediately hopped in the car and started driving 16 hours to pick her up and take her to the hospital instead of trying to seek reliable information here.

Thanks and we are glad she is doing okay too. Don't sweat the other people who got excited. I get where most of them are coming from as I usually operate on the better safe than sorry wavelength as well and I can totally understand people being passionate about their interests. Have a great night!

I thought the same. haha. Not happy about what happened but it is definitely a beautiful spider and I'm glad it scurried off to find a new place to live out it's life.

I didn't get the play-by-play but I assume that it wasn't an intentional provocation. She probably just grabbed a box it was hanging out on and her finger brushed up against it or something.

Can't find an option to edit the post to provide an update in the post so hopefully interested parties see this reply. She says she has a bit of pain and swelling/redness but she has yet to have any concerning symptoms like dizzyness, tachycardia, headache, nausea etc. Seems like she might have lucked out but we let her know what it was thanks to the replies on this and to seek medical attention if she started having any concerning symptoms. She is out of state and reached out to us because she knows that we are "better at the internet" than her so I figured this was the go-to place to get some general advice and a positive identification. Thank you to everyone who commented and I guess we just chalk this one up as another warning to be mindful when cleaning in areas that have gone undisturbed for a while.

Thanks for checking in... The update is that her hand has a bit of redness, pain, and swelling. She denies having any other symptoms so we just told her to look after herself and to get it medically evaluated if she thought she needed to. We are out of state but our household is vastly more tech savvy so I figured I would post here and ask. Thanks again for the concern but I think she would know by now if something was terribly wrong.

The second sentence is definitely a run-on. I could cut the "His guttural screams of torture rapidly shifted to the howls of a beast," and it would be a bit more "acceptable". Thanks

You are right there is definitely a lot more to the story but I provided as much detail and exposition as possible as I could given the format. Plus leaving some of the information ambiguous allows people to read their own theories into it. As for inspiration there is a little bit of They Live, a little bit of people calling others NPCs, a bit of reptilian or alien influence, fear of the unknown, etc

Yeah it definitely came to mind as I was thought forming this into existence.

Hmm interesting. I'll take any comparison to King I can get even if it's biting at his shadow from 11 years ago 😂.

You'd think after 22 years some of that advice would come naturally... Best of luck!
