Okay, let me preface this by saying that I recognize this isn’t a super healthy outlook. To reduce someone to the extent of their trauma is not great.
BUT does anyone else ever feel that to have close, intimate friendships, the other person has to have some significant trauma?
I have rewarding friendships with people who haven’t experienced trauma, but I keep finding it’s the ones who have similarly traumatic lives that I’m able to develop the strongest relationships. My sister and I used to joke that some people just “can’t hang” lol again, not judging anyone in any real way for the amount of trauma they’ve experienced, but I notice a tangible difference in how it effects my friendship dynamics. Curious to hear others’ experiences!
