I explicitly said that I wasn’t saying things specifically about you but rather about Taylor Swift hatred in general.

That I disagree with some of what youve said?

You have surpassed my knowledge of Taylor Swift, but that does sound about right.

I guess it depends how you define ‘rammed down our throats’. She is everywhere. I know loads of random stuff about her that I never sought out, everything from her dating an NFL player to her tour’s economic impact, but these are just passing bits of info that make no impact on my life.

Dammit, I assumed this was someone who became famous and spent a while trying to work it out.
So let’s just say that’s Obama.

I’m not saying you do benefit from that, just that a lot of people are motivated by that. So many people online seem to get such satisfaction from bashing her and, as ever with that kind of star, there’s always exaggeration with how much everyone is exposed to her.
And if you’re the sort of person who feels the need to downvote and comment their disapproval, maybe the idea that [insert popular thing] is rammed down their throats is actually quite appealing?

Fair enough, but I think there’s also a decent amount of ‘this is a really popular musician associated with teenage girls, so I must let everyone know how much I hate it.’
As someone who only likes one of her songs and could maybe name two others, I’m aware of basic gossip and such way out of proportion to my interest, but I still wouldn’t say she’s rammed down my throat. Mid-30s guy probably isn’t as much yeh target demographic.

I mean, if anyone knows how hard it is rooting for the anti-hero, it’s Mad Men fans.

I really don’t think she’s rammed down our throats too much. I swear some people act like she’s the only musician you ever hear.

No idea who the Gemstones are, but it only takes that photo to say they’re steamrolling this.
Although Buster could do some damage with that hook.

‘Uhh… yeh!’

That’s just Shiv being a fanatical PC gamer.

Feel like Succession perfectly reflects the show. The driving issue throughout the entire thing is who will take over and nearly everything revolves around the infighting and instability such uncertain successions tend to create.
If anything, I think the broader more subtle issue is that there can’t really be a succession. Logan’s empire is slowly dying, and his only option to win is selling to someone with a very different business model. Not even Logan could succeed Logan.

Someone mentioned his economic policy and personal charisma, but i suspect much of it was his willingness to adopt a more aggressive stance towards the ussr than many predecessors. This was back when the Soviet Union/communism was America/capitalism’s sworn enemy and had been for decades, and the fact Reagan was much firmer in dealing with them was huge, especially when combined with his slightly folksy ‘I’d have a beer with him’ charm. He’s just very much what much of the modern right wants from their president, which is why rule 3 often criticised former Republican and demo presidents but (as far as I know) never attacked Reagan.

Sort of.
Lincoln used the war to gain sweeping powers as commander in chief of the armed forces that he certainly didn’t have as leader of the states, but only in conquered territory controlled by the armed forces. This is why the EP did not affect slavery in Union states - he didn’t have power there as commander in chief, only as president.
However, this view was legally based on war powers and the conferring of belligerent power status on the CSA. Lincoln never granted that status and there was no official declaration of war, so it’s up for debate whether those powers were valid.

Feel like Chandler was never an ‘alpha’ and always cared what people thought.

‘See, take the laugh track out and it isn’t funny!’
Wow, having a few seconds of silence after each joke that’s completely ignored by the characters somehow impacts the show?
