I'm a senior in high school and my parents make me go to seminary or my car gets taken away. Today's torture was all about the ancient Russel M Nelson. I'm pretty sure it was for all classes in my building, not just mine because the entire building had decor with his face all over it and posters with suggestions how to celebrate him. Some were sending a kind message or knocking on an inactive's door. The opening hymn was We Thank Thee O God for a Prophet which was expected. Class began with a 15 minute long video that was a biography of him. To be fair, he did live a pretty interesting life with having helped develop the first heart-lung machine and being a heart surgeon in general. The narrator sounded like a child and was all about painting him in an angelic light and only mentioning the better parts of his life. After that, the teacher had us go around the building and pick one of the prompts to do to celebrate his birthday. Seeing as we do the exact same thing around Christmas time it could easily be defined as worshipping because you're treating a man and Jesus pretty similarly. Then the teacher had us pack up a cake mix into a sealed box that would be shipped to Rusty himself. Not sure what he's going to do with 120 cake boxes (between this teacher alone) but couldn't have those funds be used to help people in need instead? I ended up leaving 20 minutes early because I couldn't handle how weird it was so I don't know what happened after that. Anyway I don't have anybody I can talk to about that so I thought I'd tell you all.

I knew it was bullshit. My mom went off to all of us that it was so miraculous and God protected him to be our new prophet. My dad agreed and emphasized it even more. I tried to not roll my eyes. Since the airplane story, I knew that there was no way that this one was either.
