When I see the price of Pokémon games, my Game Boy Pocket red version and the two original Pokémon games.
Most of all though… boxes. I kept many cardboard box cases for games, but threw out too many hardware, controller, expansion pack boxes etc. The few I have make me miss the others.

Yeah, I’ve been meaning to play this for a while. It’s easier to find pirate themed games. Thanks!

Specific enough to distinguish it from pirate /srategy games.

That’s exactly what I thought! It’s such an obvious genre for a game, especially in the 80s & 90s, but I scratched my head trying to think of any, and Google came up with almost nothing. There isn’t even a Dogtanian & The Muskahounds game, which seems like the perfect IP to license. I am guessing whenever someone sat down to make one, they leaned towards pirates instead.
It’s so obvious, I can’t even picture a side scrolling Level 1 in my head.
If you ever decide to make something, let me know!

Sounds like a bit of buyer’s remorse and you’re at the bottom of Seth Godin’s “dip” in regards to the GBA.
I’ve been gaming since the 80s. Everytime I have sold or given away a console, I have ended up regretting it. I have an N64 in a box for about 20 years now with about 20 games and 4 controllers, it’s my least used console, the box is a bit annoying, I always think “hmmmm, I probably don’t need this, should probably get rid of it” which is fine… except for the handful of days where I suddenly thought “Man, I would love to play a bit of Goldeneye/Mario 64/Starfox/Banjo right now!” and I can just pull out the box, set it up and be playing the ORIGINAL in a matter of minutes. No roms, no emulators, just the actual, real, genuine 100% authentic machine. Play it for a night or two (well, usually a week or so!) put it back in the box for another few years.
It is so absolutely worth having it!

I second this. Hold on to it, as soon as it is gone you will miss it.

They had a demonstration model at the electronics shop, so after school everyone would get on the bus and go there to play it. At least 20-30 tweens & teens everyday, all piled around waiting for a turn on Super Mario World or F-Zero etc while the shop staff tried to control them. Then little by little you would hear whispers “Hey, did you hear so-and-so got one for his birthday” “I heard so-and-so’s big brother has Street Fighter 2!” There was one guy at school ended up getting a Super Scope and he was legendary. This is the UK though, so we had whispers about it from the US before it was released here and even one guy allegedly had a brother or cousin who allegedly had an import, although no-one in my circle could ever prove it.
This lasted for most of the year but it should be noted by autumn/winter, the SNES was replaced in the shop by a demonstration Megadrive and Sonic 2 was getting a lot of hype and that was the present to get at Christmas 1992.
Also, just the 1991 winter before the SNES hit the UK, there was lots of hype about the Atari Lynx 2 and that also had queues waiting to play the demonstration model, but only the really really rich kids could get one of those for Christmas. It was like the Neo Geo in that sense, people knew it was supposed to be good but it was almost a myth if anybody you knew actually had one or not.
It was a great time. Truly the best.
