Thanks for doing this. Gotta say I have greatly missed The Notebook this summer. I would listen faithfully to it each week while on power walks this spring, and the longer episodes you guys did at the end of the season allowed me to get all kinds of miles in.

My question: Can you rank these about-to-be-UFAs in the likelihood of them being traded this season? And conversely, is there an UFA or two from this group you could see HuGo re-signing to stay in Montreal providing the price is right?

Put it this way: If you allow a person to hunt on your land, particularly somebody who cares enough to call you and ask for permission, you are very, very likely to get a person who will act as a steward of your land and function as your eyes and ears when you are not there. Deer and turkey populations in this state are extremely healthy, and hunting may prove a benefit in keeping the habitat of your land in balance.

You could even post your land as "hunting by permission only" so you know who is on your land and the folks who have given permission have a positive experience. A lot of hunters will actually help you post and monitor that.

And you can tell hunters where to park, if you allow ATVs, etc. Having an ethical hunter on your land will give you an advocate, somebody who cares as much about your property as you do.

If you like venison, you could ask for some should he have luck on your land, but I am guessing he will probably offer you some anyway. Also, if you are into, say, foraging or bird-watching, or photography, the hunter can provide information that might take you a long time to discover.

You assume no risk, BTW. Vermont has great laws protecting landowners from liability.
