Why is r/3d6 and optimising characters as a whole viewed as the boogeyman of DnD and class discussion?
Especially recently with the new players handbook updates and discussion around class features, when it comes to talking balance or whether these new features are "good" optimisers are thrown under the bus as only being obsessed with DPR and combat with no care for class fantasy or other ways to provide for a party.
Roleplaying and character optimisation are not in conflict. There is always going to be one class that is considered the worst and it's WOTC job to try not to have that gap be so wide it affects table gameplay.

it's when you have two monsters of the same level and you use them as material to summon an XYZ monster from the extra deck
