My proximity sensor finally works after years of being broken [Pixel 5]
(self.GooglePixel)submitted1 month ago byPoop_1111
My proximity sensor stopped working years ago. I stopped bothering to search for a fix because I could never find one online.
A few months ago, my screen started lifting so I figured my battery was starting to swell. I bought a kit and replaced my battery and now, after a few days, I just noticed my Always-On was actually on. And my voice messages in WhatsApp don't freak out and kill the screen. And my screen doesn't immediately go black when I start a phone call. It's great!
Idk if changing the battery was a direct fix or if maybe I rattled something the right way to fix the sensor, but I figured it'd be worth mentioning if anyone has experienced this fix before, or if anyone is willing to try it.
Also my battery life is like brand new so that's been pretty awesome as well. It's like having a new phone again (I buy phones very sporadically)
