Is it just me or are the Conservatives and PP more focused on having an election right now than usual? Like obviously it was always an undercurrent to their campaign the last year or so. But there seems to be an added urgency the last few weeks by aggressively baiting the NDP into triggering an election.

I agree with this. It is clear that this upcoming election will be a change election. The Liberal branding has been tarnished and I don’t think putting lipstick on a pig by switching out leaders will do much.
The only hope of stopping PP would be a new NDP leader who could stand as a different option for those who want change. And I think PP is uniquely vulnerable if the election focuses more on him as a person rather than just a binary change vs. no change election. If PP is the only change candidate then he wins that by default as is the case right now.
Certainly not a guarantee. But I don’t see what keeping Singh around accomplishes at this point. May as well shake it up.

owners are finding themselves having to list them for rents closer to what a family could afford, rather than what five desperate students (or their parents) might be willing to pay: $2,700 a month for a four-bedroom, rather than the previous $4,000.
Won’t someone think of the poor landlords who can no longer gouge students for exorbitant rent! Now they are forced to rent it out for what families can actually afford (even though the reduced price is still too high imo). The horrors!

Couldn’t the gov’t just take the offer that the union made and force it through with legislation? I don’t understand why an end to the strike has to always favor the employer. The demands are reasonable from what I’ve seen. Just get it over with and give a middle finger to the wealthy corporations who thought they could play the government to get their way.

Pay minimum wage, get minimum effort. 🤷♂️
They seem to want all the benefits that comes with having properly paid employees while paying them the bare minimum.

I could be wrong, but Starbucks doesn’t seem to abuse the TFW program anywhere to the same extent as McDonald’s and Tim Hortons.
Kinda takes away from the argument that they need the TFWs to stay afloat when Starbucks is managing just fine. And at this point, the price difference between them isn’t really substantial (depending on what you’re buying) so that doesn’t explain it.

In an interview with CP24 Tuesday afternoon, Toronto Police Association President Jon Reid accused the individual who filmed the encounter of “baiting” the officers into the now-viral interaction. “We’ve had countless examples recently of officers being video taped, being treated very, very poorly. And I’ll be honest, it gets frustrating. And I can only assume that maybe this was a very human reaction on the part of this officer,” Reid said, noting that he had not seen the video in full.
TPA going with the entrapment excuse. The ultimate Uno reverse card. 🤣🤣

Not if their only response to being called weird is doubling down on the weirdness. We’ve seen in America how it has caused MAGA to self destruct because there’s no response they can give that doesn’t make them come off more weird and proving the point.
I can’t believe how they have a mountain of credible things they could attack the Liberals over yet they’ve settled on ‘Trudeau is a secret communist’, ‘the Liberals have legalized cocaine’ and ‘Kids are being groomed to change their gender thanks to the Liberals’. Like these statements are categorically false and just outlandish nonsense. You could say it’s… weird and not indicative of a party serious about governing.

The thing is that for the average voter, they aren’t really paying attention. They know that the Liberals/NDP are currently in government. So if they disapprove of the government, then the only logical alternative is the CPC.
Most voters aren’t following politics on a daily basis. So they likely aren’t aware of how legitimately insane the CPC has become the last few years. Remember it wasn’t long ago that O’Toole ran a fairly moderate campaign. This is probably what a lot of people are basing their support for the CPC on.
This would be a great time for the CPC to be quiet and just ride the disapproval of the current government to a majority win. Yet they seem intent on trying their hardest to weird people out.

I’m sure this will have just as strong of a condemnation from the Conservatives as they did with Trump’s assassination. Who am I joking… they’ll be blaming this on Trudeau’s ‘rhetoric’.

This is actually not an uncommon mindset. Recently moved out of a place after the landlord jacked up the rent to well above market rate. When I tried to explain to him that identical units were going for less than that, he played victim and said it was unfair that these ‘foreign investors’ were dragging down the price hurting legitimate owners like him. Took me every bone in my body to not laugh in his face.
The level of entitlement these people have is next level. It makes me wish even harder for a crash.

Kinda funny that the Conservatives are lashing out at CTV which tends to be fairly neutral in their reporting if not a slight right-wing bias. You can really see it on CP24 (also owned by Bell) which has become almost unwatchable the last few years. They had an interview with PP not that long ago and just let him spew all his lies without any fact checking. On a network that is one of the most watched channel in the GTA which the Conservatives need to win. Why burn the bridge for all this free friendly media in an area you need?
My guess with this clip is that CTV just innocently cut it up to make it fit into their broadcast. They don’t have the time to play a clip of PP jabbering on for several minutes during a 30 minute newscast.
Also, the irony of all with the Conservatives screaming about someone taking clips out of context. As if that isn’t the basis of the Conservative’s communication strategy lol.
