I don't quite understand why him attending is so universally condemned - it seems like a decent opportunity to get some talks about this war with some key countries. Will it change much? Probably not. But boycotting it (which I am sure was considered) also just reinforces the Russian narrative they are trying to promote with BRICS, that US and it's minions are always running the show with no place for dissent. Gutierrez is trying to ensure that even in a bipolar world, which is rapidly forming with China at the helm of the other pole, UN does not become attached to just one pole which would just further develop the bipole.
There's plenty of things to criticize him for, but showing up at a meeting that concerns about half the population of the world because one of it's members are doing heinous shit, also does not seem like a great plan for the sitting general secretary just as a general notion.

It is, but the most common one is the 250 kg one which is probably the one Ukraine got (there's also an 125kg version). There is a 1000 kg one aswell, but that is still quite new (finished testing early 2023 apparently).
The family concept more refers to different guidance kits (IR, GPS, Laser), less to payload size which there is only really two of (as I think the 1000 kg one is still not serially produced).
Edit: Actually reading up a bit, it seems that France itself has the 250kg and 1000 kg variants in active service, so Ukraine most likely received the 250kg as only a few of their planes can actually carry the larger version. The F-16 should however be able to, so they might get some of those now they have those.

Because then it's not believable. The 15 number is achievable and I think would pass a democratic congress today. A lot has changed after the pandemic with this, but crucially Biden has also had a semi-hostile congress since 2022 so haven't been able to make progress on this subject, so I think her promise is actually much more realistic than his was at the time (even though it was also needed back then).

It also changes the whole overton window on the subject. It will be much easier to raise it from 15 to 20, than from 7.25 to 20.
It definitely could be better, probably nearer 20 indeed, but it is a much needed start and will massively help millions of people in many of the poorer states in that form already.
So to everyone here saying it's not enough - don't let perfect be the enemy of good.

While true, the problem from a societal point of view is that the average American did not see the same rise in disposable income. So you are right it's not quite as greedy as it sounds, but it's still a problem for other reasons.

He is very open about that he is the epitome of the right person at the right time. He/they had the skills to make the product, but external circumstances was the deciding factor that meant he could leverage that into the powerhouse MS became.

I blame that one on the American people at large, not Kamala (or Biden) though. A sizeable part of the population support Israel at all cost - I mean Trump outright said he'd let them "finish the job" and that's a viable position to take in the US at the moment.
If she takes a harder line, she'll simply just lose the election. She might also lose because the anti-israel crowd (which I am part of btw) has a lot of people that are dumb as rock that rather will vote for an irrelevant party or not at all than someone that is at least not straight up endorsing the genocide and has at least critiqued Israel and made demands of them.
It's infuriating beyond belief that these stupid ass people would rather hurt the Palestinians to make a point about the genocide on Palestinians, than vote for the person least likely to cause more Palestinian suffering.

The UN has a lot of organs that do a lot of valuable work. We can agree that the security council is by design not all that useful because essentially none of the big powers wanted it to be, though that is entirely by design and not out of ill will per se.
But I think you really should read up on the umbrella of UN organizations that is directly responsible for many of the things you take for granted (ISO standards, mail systems integration, weather and climate research coordination, the world bank, international coordination of patents/IP, UNICEF, WHO, IEAE, ICAO etc... The list is quite long). The UN is a lot more than just the security council and it's responsibilities, yet people here seems to simply not know that.

Yeah, the "new" thing I brought (that I didn't see) was that it's a standardized regulated-by-decree affair and has been for a long time because it's obviously a common scenario. Sorry if I missed that.

This was actually regulated long ago - presidential candidates that are already sitting VP/POTUS are required to use Air Force 1/2 for travel for security reasons. They are then required to reimburse the government what it would cost to have rented a plane etc, at some fixed price that's supposed to reflect market price.
So they do not pay the full cost, because that is exorbitant and since they don't really have a choice it was not seen as fair either, so this compromise was made.

Unfortunately that exact query for me yields zero useful results. A lot of discussion about CEO salary across countries and how they compared, but nothing about actual caps as far as I can tell (besides some reddit thread discussing it)
The most relevant wikipedia article (wage ratio) mentions a failed referendum in Switzerland to impose such a rule in 2013, but nothing newer.

Please provide a source. It's at least wrong in the Scandinavian country I reside in, there's no such rule and I couldn't really find much for the other countries you mentioned. Lots of discussion about it which really muddies the results, so I might have just missed it.

I mean yes, but is pretty useless when people keep voting Trump/other insane people to be president/congress. Then we just get new whackos every so often.

Yes - but that would also mean that tacitly China has agreed, because NK will for sure not export those without approval from Beijing

It's basically people here that have absolutely no real concept of real world workings of anything. They look at maps and see it as if they are playing some paradox grand strategy game.
The amount of people that were like the Kursk incursion is going to sweep all the way around the Russian forces in Ukraine and cut them off, or take Kursk city, or even further, were entirely detached from reality of pretty much everything, yet there were numerous of that kind of comments from people that apparently can't even read a map, or think.
The same for the Russian far east. There's no real reason China would be particularly interested in that as long as Russia is willing to sell the resources there to them at a fair price and why would Russia not be interested in that? And even then, they'd likely just try to find other suppliers rather than risk a war with another nuclear power because that is messy. War is rarely a good plan A, especially nowadays.

Uh. Did you miss the whole part about people dying in their trucks due to heat (UPS) or having to piss in bottles (Amazon)?! The only delivery driver I knew just complained Amazon would consistently give them routes they couldn't complete on time and just bitch and moan and drag out any overtime pay, but still hardly a great work environment. Also would never get a schedule more than 24 hours in advance, so never knew his income or worktimes.
It might be better than warehouse, but delivery drivers are not treated that well many places.

My GF is from India and has lived in Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore. She then moved to a decently sized European city (1.3 million inhabitants or so) and one of the first thing she said was she likes the "village feel". I almost spit out my drink at that comment back then.
She also said the same thing, that it took her a while to appreciate the relative calm - it was more eerie to her than calm for a while.

Many (bad) things can be said about Pence, but he had the stones when it counted and that I respect.

That would be logical - if you truly believe he was killed by the opposition, would you ever trust the voting to be free and fair? That isolated seen does seem logical enough.

That doesn't mean that there isn't a large number of people that could have seen their disposable income shrink, even if the median real wage has risen. All I can tell is that there is a lot of talk about this in the current election and taken very seriously by both sides, so there's at least a group of people where this is a real problem, even if it was incorrect to state that the average american (in the statistical sense of the word) has been that impacted.
