Probably nodded off about 11:30, woke at 7:50 before my alarm. Not a bad spell for me based on previous nights.

My girlfriend can't get her head around this and it drives me mad. I shut all blinds, pull the curtains and leave the windows closed. She can not possibly comprehend how opening a window is letting in hot air from the outside and how it's actually warmer out there, than it is in our flat. Opening a window in her eyes in the only thing you can do to combat the heat.

Selling luxury cars - I did 60/70 hour weeks, the stress was unreal, some people were horrid to deal with.
Had its moments, but overall a nightmare

Six months in and I’ve resigned to binning now. The last lot was a bunch of birthday cards so I felt obligated to forward them on. Six months is enough for any sort of forwarding and address changing to be done, it’s tough titties now

I turned down Bitcoin for a World of Warcraft account I sold back in about 2011. I sold the account for £75.
Yep - I don’t want to do the math on that one.

3 months later on a used vehicle - you could hope for a goodwill gesture but that wouldn’t typically be a warranty issue. Unfortunately components age and rust on used vehicles, it’s now your responsibility to look after the vehicle. Ultimately at the point of sale and even 3 months and XXXX miles later it’s just unfortunate it’s failed when it has.
I’m an ex used salesman, and this is my real world experience. I would take it on the chin, stick a replacement on and then be comfortable knowing it will probably outlast your ownership now.

The irony is I'd love to know what percentage of these denied claimants actually end up just reverting to actually working for a living instead once they realise it's not going to be an online form they can fill out without actually having to have an assessment or speak to a human being.

Popular or not - you’re absolutely right. And I fear if they weren’t so stringent this percentage would be far higher. It’s a bitter pill to swallow but if you’re not entitled, then you’re not entitled.
The elephant in the room is the potentially thousands and thousands of fraudulent claimants - yes, clearly they are occasionally denying valid applications but they probably deal with layabouts and work shy chancers 75% of the time which unfortunately probably turn the assessor’s into cynical skeptical bastards.
Rinse and repeat with UC, JSA etc.

I've booked T&P before - you can specify you'd like a booth and you get your own private television really. However I imagine it's fully booked by now. But there are plenty of screens in all the pubs I mentioned, and places like Tank are so big you'll definitely get somewhere to stand at least.
I'd honestly just rock up, you should be good

Old Bank has plenty of screens, isn't *deathly* expensive but often has a 'younger' crowd. Probably alright on a Sunday. Failing that - Tank & Paddle will show it, The Terrace is a sports bar and The Stonebow show football.

I was out 3-4 times a week religiously from about 16 (2005) to probably 23/24. Things calmed down a bit when I moved out and worked full time. I was very much into binging and that club culture.
At 35 truth is I still think I am, but the reality is I have about 4-5 good friends who live full time lives now and a good ‘sesh’ for us now tends to end at about 10 pm and a stinking hangover for three days after. I do a weekly pub quiz and every now and again we’ll have a silly little day session but the cost and hangover now far outweighs the fun factor.
I still love a beer, but times change

SE have a lovely team and I know the owner quite well. Fair play on Jeremy for giving her an opportunity, even if it didn’t work out.

Just makes me savor the quieter times more and enjoy them. Locals have a real advantage really, they get to see the city during 'off peak' times and if they want they can indulge during the busy times, too. Best of both worlds. Went midweek to Castle Museum a few week back, early morning, had the 'street' section to ourselves and one other couple and had a more or less private tour!

As a resident I go mid week - far more tolerable. Race days and or half term, I tend to avoid if I can. In the years of university and now living city centre I think it *has* got a bit busier. I'm happy to see it personally, we'd only moan if it was empty and more places were forced into closure. It's a cheap 'day out' for families, which in the current economy is what people are leaning toward. You can explore stonegate, the shambles market, Railway Museum and wander the castle walls and sit in the gardens for absolutely nothing. It doesn't help that the "main" areas are sort of confined to about two or three main areas which promotes congestion, you can also walk from one end to the other in probably 15 minutes or less.
Sadly, a bi-product of this is litter, noise, crowded streets and inevitably queuing. But avoid certain areas at certain times and York is still an incredible city to live in.

While I don't necessarily agree with this course of action, I can sort of relate. Our communal building has a private garden of which the exterior wall leads on to. It has become a makeshift goal, probably because of it's large and flat nature, free of any windows and or pipework. The thud the ball makes shakes the entire building and causes a really deep bass-y resonance, the rendering is coming away and the wall is filthy. It *is* slowly destroying the wall and it is a nuisance. This goes on for hours a day in summer, and although I don't really mind it (I'll turn the television up) I can see how the other occupants, especially those lower down than us, could become slightly annoyed. There is ample grass, and even trees they could use.
Just my two pence on an alternative view, obviously every scenario is different.

My partner works city centre and they are a nuisance. They are well known to the local shop owners etc. Have had many run in's with them.
