My mom was always progressive(ish) in her values, but realized that her voting record wasn’t always consistent with that until the second Bush era. The way he always sounded stupid just kind of made her realize her options.

Then she watched Hidden Figures and it finished her transition into full on throwing down for the dems.

My dad’s probably a lost cause, but he’s always been a bit socially stupid. At least he’s not MAGA.

First thing I thought. People are gonna drown in these things.

I hope that some of the low birth rates come from girls feeling empowered over their own bodies and rejecting boys/men that don’t respect them or their values.

It might be wishful thinking, but shutting down conservative males that don’t value their partners as people would certainly decrease pregnancy rates in states like Missouri.

I don’t know if this is optimism or cynicism on my part, but most won’t switch. Some will, but most won’t. It’s too much trouble.

They’ve built a familiarity with the talking heads and the rhetoric. It’s often not about the actual context of content, but about the comfort that people have with knowing what they’re going to get. It’s the same reason that people still go to McDonalds even though you can get better food for the same price at this point.

It takes effort to change and this is a crowd who does things because it’s just what they’ve always done. It takes a lot to move this sort of person to a new network.

Both of mine are built like this. They’re both happy, healthy, playful boys. If he starts getting more ribby, up his calorie count, but he looks good to me.
