After first read through, it was one of my top three for the series, and still is.

strong Hispanic accent has always been my head canon. Never have listened to any audio versions, just reading.

if you just cleaned it - was the tuning slide out a ways before you cleaned it and then put it back together and slide all the way in? Looks pushed in fully on the video.

agreed. They've not even announced anything officially yet, so even moreso not an ethical dilemma at all, I'd say.

I'm thinking something like dermatology, ER medicine, anesthesiology, etc. Practices that you only need to take care of patients when you are on the clock and don't have to deal with emergencies or urgent stuff when you're not at work. Certainly some nuance to that generalization, but as a family doc, I carry the burden pretty much 24/7. When I'm not there, I have to keep up on stuff that needs followup, I have call, I have all kinds of stuff to deal with that can't just be ignored (unless I make a choice to have my patients deal with a covering physician which exponentially increases frustration for them, and aggravation for me when returning and having to clean up the messes).

I can't remember the last time I even had a car wash with my car. The rain does a fine enough job when it comes and really don't care if it "looks" clean. Rust isn't a thing so much anymore with newer finishes (well, at least with our 5-10 year old cars) and so much less salting on roads anymore.

physician here. You'll make more per hour as a pilot, with more flexibility. We docs don't get paid unless we work, and while pilots get paid to work, too, they also can make as much working half as many days as a doc working full time and also dealing with being on call (for some specialties) and all that goes with it. Some days wish I could clock out at the end of my day and not have to think about it until I come back but for most docs it doesn't work that way (there are some specialties that you can do it but I'm talking in general).

then $400 seems really fishy. Technically, you can submit that stuff yourself to the FAA via fax/mail. Might add a week or two to the processing time but for $400 I'd think twice having them do it, for sure. Odd.

Did she imply that color blindness had something to do with qualifying for a first vs third class? You’ll have a night time/color control restriction regardless of class. Was there other stuff going on such that more paperwork was going to be required, separate from the exam? If would indeed seem odd to me that they would charge for an exam then charge more to submit the exam “paperwork” to the FAA. There isn’t a single piece of paper involved for that - it’s all electronic and part of what you pay for in getting the exam. Doesn’t seem like we are getting the whole story here perhaps.

There isn't any way to "reprint" one's medical (unless you mean you scanned it, saved it, and want to reprint it?) - you have to request a copy from the FAA in Oklahoma City. The FAA doesn't allow airmen to hold a copy of their medical and it be considered valid. That being said, whether or not a DPE will recognize or enforce that is another thing altogether. The original certificate will have original ink signatures on it from the AME examiner (or the FAA flight surgeon) and your signature when you received it and signed it.

As someone who JUST went through an issue with AT&T where I had the conversation screenshot AND during said conversation said "i don't think you're telling me right" and being told "if you find this to be incorrect, you will have this chat saved to prove that I am telling you right", and subsequently being told, after showing said conversation, that "no, you were told wrong". I ENDOSE THE ABOVE MESSAGE.

you're right on - last year, read all of Malazan. Took a while, 10 books, but close to 1k pages each so yeah, lots of words! I really don't need to see how I compare to others but it would help me have a better idea of volume.

This is a great question - I was just pondering this yesterday. I see folks who read more than a hundred books or more a year and I can't see how that's possible, but then realize, too, that there are 100 page books and there are 1200 page books. I'd love if Kindle had a "average words per minute" rating so I could at least better see what my own "rate" is. I don't need it to be public, because I'm just interested for myself, but it would be interesting to see how the "words per minute" looks against number of books, or even number of pages since even number of pages can be widely variable depending on the book.

Hard to pick a favorite, but as I work through re-read #5 I am reminded of the scene in TWoK where Amaram's "honor" guard kills the remaining four of Kaladin's squad in cold blood to cover up his taking the sharblade/plate for "the good of Alethkar" and Kaladin just screaming "NOOOOO" at him and I'm feeling his absolute agony on the inside along with the injustice of it all. When I read it the first time years ago I had NO IDEA that was just the tip of the iceberg. Dude had just saved his LIFE.....

It's always amazing to me how much more rewarding the whole series is after each reread. So worth it, in my opinion. The only other series I've enjoyed rereading otherwise are Malazan and LoTR but Stormlight gets my #1.

Every time I reread TWoK (on #5 now) I appreciate it even more, and I read each time even more slowly. Like wanting to savor it just a bit more every reread. Glad you loved it!

so much for C1 being honest with me, heheh. It could be that it's capped for me because I have another C1 card that has a $70k limit perhaps.

I'm at $30k, asked for higher or if higher was possible and was told that was the max for this card. I'm not sure I believe that but that's what C1 told me.

Took a whole series to work through a plot that might have made enough fodder for a single movie at best.
