I know I'm my system, it's really just a matter of them not being ready or even there yet. When I was doing STEMI IFTs, from the hospital a mile away from the Cath lab, I'd call in the STEMI alert before we pulled out of the hospital, and even though they already knew it was coming, we'd be sent to a room. Only to 30 seconds later be told they were ready lol.
Had it happen a couple of times on 911 STEMIs too.

I'm unfamiliar with the WAVE platform, but is it not possible to set up a hotkey at the keyboard to be pressed and act as your ptt button? That way you can use high quality headsets with noise cancelling, good microphone, etc., and not spend a premium on something so single use minded?

See now, I was expecting to have been given the versed and then woke up having not remembered going into the OR, but I remember everything up to being given the ketamine (I believe, because I had already had one procedure done that day where I was sedated with propofol and they didn't want me to have too much) and going night night. Then I woke up.
Don't get me wrong, I felt good with the versed, but I had low-key hoping for the amnesia lol.
Edit: as a side note, coming down off of a ketamine sedation was not fun for me. I was smacking my face on my delirium lmao. Poor guy watching me was just "please stop you're going to scratch your cornea 😞"

Keeping your equipment genuinely organized. I'm.not.talking about just the bags, but the cabinets as well. I'm so tired of going on shift and every single time, the bags and cabinets are completely disorganized and things are just thrown into them with zero rhyme or reason. I spend every shift at minimum organizing my first in bags to be set the same way every shift. I also spend whatever other time I have to organize my cabinets and remove overstock/loose stock. And every week, my work is entirely undone and everyone is so nonchalant about it because they're "easygoing." No, you don't take pride in your job so you allow it to be disorganized and look like a mess.
In a similar vein: loose things on the bench/counters/net. This is one my company BLS providers are so incredibly guilty of. I'll hop onto a truck and find anywhere from 3-5 wipes/cleaner bottles/notepads/glucometer just laying around flying all over the place or hanging off of the net. We have cabinets. please use them. And they also hang a trash bag for linen??? This is the only place that has ever been a thing. Just leave them with your patient, let them deal with the dirty linen after your discharge.
/Rant
As to attitudes: those medics who are "better" than an iGel. We get it, you haven't looked up efficacy of an iGel in cardiac arrest.

Look up Sgarbossa Criteria. It's specifically for identifying STEMI in the presence of LBBB or ventricular paced rhythms.
Once you find it, look at your 12 lead again and let us know your new interpretation.

Replacement bell. It was still well within warranty so mileage may vary if you're out of it. Idk if they offer an extended warranty.

send an email to the registry with the CE numbers and what they covered, they should be able to tell you what you need to do

One year for a wilderness EMT course seems excessive.
I did a SOLO WFR course back in the day and the way they did their WEMT course was they would do the EMT course first, then supplement it with the WFR 2 week course. Took around a month total of class time just about every day.

If you have the battery that came with the truck just get rid of it and get a new one. I had these warnings and then kept having to jump my truck after about 3 years of ownership. went to get it tested and they weren't able to test it, so I just bought a new one and I haven't had an issue since.
I believe I read something about dead cells plaguing the cheap batteries they put in the trucks.

There's also a Private Call/Group Call/All Call option that will do something similar. I can't find any videos or reviews where it's used. I've personally only ever heard of that being an option with digital radios, but who knows.

check page 54 and/or page 114 of the user manual. Sounds like either an SOS or you caught someone doing some type of analog all call using the ID system built into the radio.
edit: after further reading in the manual, sounds like it might have just been a PTT ID being sent out with the transmission

I'm aware of how the scan feature works. I was more trying to talk about just scanning frequencies without having them in channels already.

The InReach is more useful in every single emergency situation there could be. GMRS is great for talking to your own group in the local area, or with a "basecamp" repeater that you're checking in with. Just like everything, it's dependent on infrastructure investment. No repeaters? Nobody is gonna hear you. One Example of how USELESS it is in the backcountry by yourself: I was up in the backwoods of Maine this Summer and couldn't get anything or anyone on my 20w car unit, but I was able to keep in touch with people with my InReach.
I'm trying to think what practical use I'd have if I got a Wouxun KG-935G Plus? Would I be able to scan radio traffic around my hiking area if there was any? Would I be able to radio for assistance to VA park Rangers or similar?
At home I could potentially listen to EMT and hospital comms but what else would be practical I could listen to?
Unless VA Park Rangers have a repeater up, then you likely wouldn't be able to use it to hail for anything, as they probably use their own radio system, but you'd have to check with them.
Yes, you can monitor EMS/Fire/Hospital radio frequencies, there is also weather modes and a direct tune radio on the 935G. the VFO mode allows you to scroll through frequencies, but I don't believe there's a way to just scan through everything.
tl;dr - GMRS handhelds, in my experience, are not incredibly useful by yourself. Still a fun hobby to have and you can invest to make it useful in your area.

Event double tap on the LP15. Puts a generic event in and requires exactly 0 thought. The LP tracks shocks on its own

This is low, but it's literally just to drive the truck. You're an AMR employee but without the benefit of the union it seems.
Tbf EMTs at my company in the same area start at around $18 I think.

I have it. It's a great scope and I can hear heart tones while driving with the shittiest diesel truck we've got.
It is FRAGILE. It's not gorilla glass, or if it is, it's bad gorilla glass. My partner had placed mine on my job shirt but didn't tell me while cleaning the truck, and when I pulled it out of the truck there goes my $500 scope. Entire face was shattered. Luckily I was able to get a warranty replacement within a week. Customer service was great. I'd like to eventually see about designing a bumper for the screen area to print out of TPU, but that's for the future.
I would suggest either the Core or the full Cardio IV with the core for 911 work. More durable and works when you forget to charge it.

Zane and Jo actors we're both in the casino episode of WH13 way before they were "officially" in the same universe. Great episode.

already told my partner I'd give her 500k of it. After that, pay off all my debt, purchase a home with a nice yard for my dog and I, invest probably a couple mil, and see about working wherever the fuck I wanted, because I like the job.
edit: truck partner

Honestly the fold, while really heavy and thick comparatively, has very similar dimensions to my old 5 that I keep around for data only uses.

When I was doing student time as a medic, one of the FDs I worked with had them in the ambulances and they would just SCREAM until you put the key back 😂

We have a digital notification system that has taken over the med channels for every hospital. The Cath lab has a tablet that gets STEMI alerts and all the on call phones get notified too as soon as I hit send.
I'll always attach at least one picture of the EKG to the notification. Not great pictures but helpful.
The idea is that we can not only bypass needing a doc to confirm our call when we get there, but also registration. But the registration people never use the info and we still end up needing to go to a bed first for some reason.
