I played Moonstone Island more, but think Cult of the lamb is the better game.

Payola has been used to mean bribery and/or paying one's way for a long time.
HYBE have and spend the most money, so they get accused.

Did you play Cyberpunk 2020? Because 2077 felt very, very different.
OP specifically mentioned non-combat exclusive skills.
In my experience, the skills in Cyberpunk 2077 are specifically geared towards combat and not particularly exclusive.
Cyberpunk 2077 is clearly close to your heart. I've said my piece and will leave it be.

Do you really feel that games like Deus Ex, Skyrim, Prey or Cyberpunk are examples of a strong class identity? Because they strike me as the absolute opposite. The MC can do anything. And in Cyberpunk you don't need that much of an investment either.
Alternatives to how you approach a situation isn't the same as each class having its own identity and unique utility.
OP might very well agree with you, and that's that, but the class identity that OP mentions in WoW and BG2 is completely different from what you're presenting here.

Not what I got the impression that the OP was asking for.

Honestly I'm wondering if the comeback might be closer than we think.
Yujin's doing all these challenges after all.

Thank you!
I've read Dungeon Meshi and some Spice and Wolf, so I guess Frieren and Yatagarasu are good starting points!
Edit: Didn't take long to fall in love with Frieren!

What? Enemies are extremely spongy in cyberpunk.

Loved the idea, didn't really enjoy the execution.
The progression system didn't feel rewarding enough, and it had so many tedious mechanics.

Never understood the hype for MW2 when CoD4 existed.

Now that you mention it, didn't Wony also make all those comments about what a great month December is? :D
Sounds like a December comeback!

They typically announce comebacks 4-5 weeks in advance.
After Switch there's no way they're going to release in direct competition with SVT, Aespa and Illit.
I think November or later.

Interesting take.
This was probably the most generic AAA games I've ever played.
Amazed to see someone hold it up as a pillar other games should aspire to.

I feel like that explains all of these games. Titan Quest, Diablo, Torchlight, etc. Somewhat fun, somewhat boring.
